The Picture of Dorian Gray is a novel by Oscar Fingal O’Flahertie Wills Wilde, which tells the story of a resplendent and good-looking man, Dorian Gray. Dorian Gray is infatuated with and jealous, at the same time, of the perfection of his hand-painted portrait and hopes for the portrait to reflect the imperfections that have beset his facial features over the years as he ages. This leads Dorian Gray to a path of dissolution, destruction, and sins.
A well-known account of a secret life and a peek into the darker side of late-Victorian society, The Picture of Dorian Gray gives listeners a disturbing portrait of an individual grappling with the reality of his soul. The novel is a classic moral commentary and remains as relevant today as it did 125 years ago, when it was first published.
