She thought the worst was over after childbirth. She was wrong.

Claire Matthews has everything she thought she wanted.
A healthy newborn.
A beautiful new home in the California desert.
And a husband who says everything is going to be fine.

But Claire can’t shake the feeling that something is very wrong.

The baby’s blanket doesn’t match.
A woman at her support group whispers a chilling warning.
And when Claire discovers mismatched hospital ID bracelets, she begins to question everything she remembers about the day her daughter was born.

Her memory is full of holes.
Her instincts are screaming.
And the deeper she digs, the more she realizes someone is lying to her.

Maybe even herself.

As Claire fights to uncover the truth, one question haunts her:

If this isn’t her baby…
then where is the one who is?

Perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, Lisa Jewell, and other domestic psychological thrillers.

I listen to many audiobooks and now I really appreciate when the author or real people narrate their books because this computer narration was terrible. Maybe the story would have been better if there was more inflection during certain parts but overall made it really hard to get through. As for the book itself, it was so repetitive and predictable. The amount of times she said “I looked at this baby which may not even be mine” or “a baby I don’t recognize “ etc. like we get it…. Honestly it’s a pass for me. Maybe I’ll give this author one more go in the future.

Repetitive & Predictable

The book was written really good. I think that if it was read by a real person rather than an automated reader it would have a bigger and better impact than what it did. The automated reader can’t put the feelings behind the words, the automated reader tends to pronounce words wrongly. But that’s just my personal opinion. I did like the book. So far I have like every book I have read by this author and I will continue to read her books.

Not what I expected.

Very good story line. The book had me thinking different scenarios throughout. I enjoyed the storyline and how everything came together. The Author may now be one of my favorites. Will definitely check out her other books. The only complaint was AI narrorating the book.

AI RUINS A GREAT BOOK
