Publisher's summary

Zen Cho returns with a found-family wuxia fantasy that combines the vibrancy of old school martial arts movies with characters drawn from the margins of history.

A bandit walks into a coffeehouse, and it all goes downhill from there. Guet Imm, a young votary of the Order of the Pure Moon, joins up with an eclectic group of thieves (whether they like it or not) in order to protect a sacred object, and finds herself in a far more complicated situation than she could have ever imagined.

Delightful romp

Wonderful narration for a novella that sucked me in and surprised me with its twists and turns. Adored it.

Too short for a world it describes

It was nice overall. Loved the protagonist and the bandits. Was a bit hard to get into the story though. It took time to understand how the world of the story works. And just when things got interesting, the story ended. Hope the authoress desides to write a sequel. I'd like to see more of the characters and of this world, now that I understood what and why was happening

Be prepared to listen straight through!

The combination of Zen Cho’s poetic prose, Nancy Wu’s tremendous narration and this compelling story led to a desire, actually a need, to listen to this entire novella in one sitting. I loved The True Queen and Sorcerer to the Crown, so I was expecting excellence, and Zen fulfills that yet again. And Nancy’s story-telling acumen is second to none.
