Detective story with animal characters!
The Open and Shut Case by Harry DeMaio is a delightful change of pace in the detective fiction genre. In this alternate universe, homo sapiens are extinct and the animals have evolved and developed powers of speech, communication, reasoning and emotion. Octavius Bear, a super genius Kodiak bear, his assistant Maury Meerkat and Inspector Wallaroo have to solve the case of the deep blue sapphire. The culprits are Imperius Drake and Black Quack Gang. There are twists and turns in a story loaded with clever word play, limericks and puns. The narration by Dominic Lopez is wonderful, and brings the characters and story to life.

a wonderful cast of characters inhabitants this universe, Octavius Bear represents Sherlock Holmes I really loved it and can not wait to dive further into this universe.
