Publisher's Summary

A deliciously dark cautionary tale about falling in love with someone you shouldn't have.

Would you risk your future for a night with your past?

Molly Greene loves being married. Exciting adventures lie ahead for her and husband, Dan, that will change their lives forever, but Molly's not sure they're making the right choices.

While teetering on the brink of the biggest decision she's ever faced, she sends an impulsive message to the very last person she ought to contact, someone who should have stayed forgotten and is now coming looking for her.

When he finds her, there is no turning back. One night is all it takes to threaten everything she holds dear - for good.

Predictable

Really funny in parts and a great narrator but overall, so predictable it made me feel uncomfortable.

I loved this one.

I'll never understand why Lucy Dawson stories don't have higher ratings. I love her books. I love some more than others, of course, but something about her writing always keeps me completely engaged in the story. Whenever I have to take a break from reading one of her books, I can't wait to get back to it. I loved this audio version read by Karen Cass. The narration was excellent. Five stars for the narration as well as the story. I was actually sad that it ended.

Great story, perfect narration, satisfying ending

I have been loving Lucy Dawson’s books! Narrator was also perfect! Although I love Dawson’s books, this is the first one I’ve read that has a satisfying ending. If you need an ending that doesn’t leave you hanging or guessing, you will like this one. On my way to reading my fourth Dawson book!

I'm in love with these characters

the performance was impeccable. Story line fascinating with disturbed antagonist and emotionally courageous characters. Bravo! I can't get enough from this author🥰

The main character ugh

I love all of Lucy Dawson’s books but this one, not so much. Why? I hated the main character bc unlike the rest of her main characters in other books, she was weak and well, dumb. Like, so unintelligent. It reminded me of the main character from the 50 shades series: who I LOATHED.

Frustrating

This book actually made me angry.
The only characters I liked were the main characters two best friends.
The main character didn’t stick up for herself, and her husband was a whiny baby.

She has written a psychological thriller in refreshing unique way!

What an amazing book, I am a really huge fan of Lucy Dawson. Like all of her books this one solidly held my interest and curiosity, as her writing style draws you in and her characters are so real.
Her main character is so narcissistic that a reader may not like her, but she is surrounded by such well developed, interesting, lovable and loving supporting characters that one hangs in there hoping to find some redeeming qualities, as she continues to mess up and make every situation about her self.

Great narrator

The ending was very anticlimatic. It just ended abruptly with no explanation. Kind of disappointing.

Average; saved by narrator

I am a Lucy Dawson fan but felt this book was not as good as her other books. Not much of a story for the first 1/3 of the book, and in my opinion only saved by the excellent narration of Karen Cass.

Pleasant easy listen

So you're a happily married woman, your husband wants to try for a baby, you kind of want a baby but at the same time you're scared of having a baby so you're playing for time. Then you bump into an old boyfriend and sleep with him because you are drunk. In the morning you wake up next to him and tell him it was a big mistake, but he still has the hots for you and begins stalking you relentlessly and you feel this will threaten what you already have with your much loved husband...

Meanwhile we hear all about your circle of friends and your family life, your brothers, mother and father, grandfather, nieces and nephews. We hear about your parents-in-law with whom you perhaps have a less agreeable relationship...and so it goes on.

Oh yes, and the suspense bit, we spend most of the book wondering whether our heroine will manage to save her marriage. (I won't spoil the ending.)

Everything brought to life and made real by the excellent performance by Karen Cass.

Excellent!

I loved this. The story is original, well written and compelling. The characters are well drawn and it moves along at a good pace. Karen Cass’ narration is great as always.

LOVED IT! One of the best books I've had for a wh

I loved this book. Not sure exactly what it was that caused me to feel like this, I just know I could't stop listening and I didn't want it to end.

The way that the author gets into the mind of all the characters on this occasion is amazing, she really must have put alot of time and effort into coming up with complex back stories for them all and deciding how they all interloop with each other.

The plot is simple in places but that is good. No need to try to over complicate things, sometimes, the simplest way is the best.

We all have the one who we want to keep track off, see what their life is like and wonder how different it would have been with us in it, this book demonstrates how easy it is for someone we trust(ed) to manipulate us, to the point we no longer feel safe in our lives.

Very well written and thought out.

Another great book by Lucy Dawson, who is fast becoming a fave author of mine.

I was totally surprised, gave much food for thought. Very entertaining, good narration. The end was abit of a conundrum. . But loved it all the same.

Odd

Spent the bulk of the book trying to work out the genre. I thought it was trying to be a farce but there was no humour! Very odd.

Great story, weak ending

Just wish there was more the to ending. bit of a let down to follow her throughout this story to not get to be there when she explains everything. I was looking forward to his response and was disappointed not to get it. Good story all the same.
