Publisher's Summary

Ken Blanchard's phenomenal best sellers, such as The One Minute Manager and Raving Fans, have made him a globally recognized business legend. Now, he has joined with noted business author Steve Gottry to explore one of the most common and insidious problems plaguing the workplace: procrastination.

The On-Time, On-Target Manager tells the highly recognizable story of Bob, a middle manager who tends to put things off to the last minute. He misses deadlines, rationalizes, justifies, and tries to explain. Luckily, Bob is sent to his company's CEO, a new kind of CEO, the "Chief Effectiveness Officer", who helps him deal with the three negative side effects of procrastination: lateness, poor work quality, and stress to himself and others. Bob learns how to overcome procrastination, and transforms himself into a productive On-Time, On-Target Manager through the Three P strategy.

With this engaging parable, Blanchard and Gottry tackle the problem of procrastination head-on, offering practical strategies any professional can immediately put into practice to improve his or her performance.

"The audio lesson is cleverly framed as an opportunity to be one's best, and the story used to unfold the lesson is both charming and current." (AudioFile)

A litte disappointing

I found this title to be a little disappointing. While it is a matter of taste, I found this book to be, at times, syrupy and/or preachy with few practical hints. I actually found the "60-Second Procrastinator" to be more helpful.

If I had only known this sooner

I always knew that I was a procrastinator, what I did not know was the impact I had on my family, friends and co-workers by being one. This book opened my eyes to see that every excuse I have for not doing something or getting something done on time was due to my lack of planning and commitment. I have always felt I was good under perssure and did my best work up against a dead line. This book helped me realize I can plan ahead and stay ahead and feel better about the result. The most impressive part is I do not have to make excuses any more.

Annoying. Disappointing.

I was excited and quickly snapped up the title on the topic of on-time/on-target delivery by the famous Ken Blanchard. Chapter 1 intro-ed a fictional character, Bob the manager, as an example of procrastination. Then, as chapter after chapter rolled on I realized I?d be trapped in this trite format for the entire book. Worse, the narrator played Bob in an idiotic tone, which left me cringing. I didn?t admire the Bob character at any point, which was the only vehicle used to communicate the central points. If you like fictional characters as a way of getting a point across?like the ?who moved my cheese? concept, you might find this okay. The points weren?t bad---just diluted by a lot of fluff. If you prefer analytically-based, detailed action plan, testimonial-type information, you may not like this book.

Not helpful at all

Hokey and ridiculous. You will not be able to relate to anything in this book unless you are over 60 and have been living on a deserted island for a while.

"Bob", the main character of this book, is just such a silly fella. It's not that he's working a mind-numbing job that does nothing for his soul or his future. It's not that he's distrusted by his boss and fighting fierce competition to sell a product that he doesn't believe in. No. It's just that silly Bob needs to learn the three P's of procrastination. In the end of the book, Bob ironically conquers procrastination by realizing that his job sucks.

Quite useful with messages that really hit home

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The book has a range of ideas and practical tips that everyone can benefit from, so I would definitely recommend a listen. It can be a bit long winded at times but overall some great messages.

Sparks in no good

There are one or two good tips that really worth me to know and learn, other than that the story style is too childish, and wasting a lot time on none core contents.
