Heck Yeah! What a fun little ride!

Wow I really enjoyed this book! This is my first from this author, but I'll absolutely be checking more out! Got my attention from the very beginning, and the pace kept up! Narrator was great!

Unmercifully Suspenseful

I'm a fan of Strand's work and he really knows how to make his readers and characters squirm.

What an awesome red!

I binged this in one day. A man with a gambling addiction enters a deadly game where the odds are decreasingly in his favor.

I loved it!! This was a fun and entertaining book. It was funny, thrilling and overall a wild ride. I loved the story, the narration and all of the characters!! Easy 5 stars! Gotta read more from Jeff Strand.

Excellent book! Perfect narrations. I thought I knew where this book was going…but I was wrong!

Love the cringe of the circumstances

Stories where people make bad decisions that cause them to spiral down to worse and worse outcomes always make me cringe. I have dreams like this and they make me anxious. I think reading stories like this just adds fuel to the fire, but I just can't quit.

Kept me interested to the end

I really liked the story and the performances. I couldn't stop listening until the end.

Binged The Odds

The casual vibe of Jeff Strand's writing makes for any easy read/listen and Scott Thomas well narrates the stuff. The suspense is epic here with an escalating relatable game of gambling and family in peril. The plot 'jumps the shark' and gets a bit cartoonish but not at cost to suspense and the tone of the material works with this. The ending was unsatisfying, it was a tense ride that had to end somehow so the conclusion feels like contortion to get out of a corner rather than a natural evolution of the situation since it seems to hinge on a turn. There is a nihilism here (despite the humor) that can grate a little - life is cheap, but the pulpy suspense context makes it feel awfully shallow for the toll it takes on it's characters and the reader (I like dark books and mean this somewhat complementary, there aren't any easy answers or false hope). Odds are 9 in 10 you'll like this book if it's premise interests you.

I loved everything about this book! The performance was perfect in every way, the story was intriguing and fun and I can't wait to listen to another book by Jeff Strand. He's becoming one of my favorite authors.
