Meh

The narrator did a great job but the story was just okay. I did like the quirky characters and there were places in the story that were actually funny.

What a great story brilliantly brought to life by the narrator. The characters are as interesting as the storyline.

good stories have slightly crooked Southern lawyer

easy listen. and nice diversion. the Great Dismal is a great sweaty background. the story begins with a pair of legs sticking out of a favorite fishing hole and like any outstanding tale, then spirals out from there to keep the reader engaged. enjoyed the story enough to listen again to catch what I missed first time around

Habit forming

I recently read my first David Naill Wilson book, and enjoyed it very much. Then I saw this book, offbeat weird southern noir style horror? Yes, please. Cletus J Diggs didn’t disappoint and I can’t wait to dive back in to more of Wilson’s work.

3 generations intwined

the story opens has a camp fire horror story but developed into a story of secret and horror that simply fisher learns the dark past of ancestry and how it links to current events.

I wasn't scared but I was intrigued of the worldbuilding that was golthic turn southern style.

More funny scares from the Rev.

David Neill Wilson brings us more adventures of the right Rev. Cletus Digs and he doesn't disappoint. A great quick read for a summer's day.

Fun listen

Fun characters in a well written story. Differenth enough to be fairly fresh. Now jeep n mind that this is not nor did it claim to be a literary masterpiece, but If you want to hear a well crafted and well told good time of a tale, then give it a go.
I have not looked yet but I hope there arw more tales of the not quite right reverend Cletus.
Narration worked great for this story. Well done.

I am a new fan

I have seen this book/audiobook and always wanted to read/listen to it...I have finally done it! AND, David Niall Wilson has a new fan.
The story was interesting, funny and unique. I will definitely get book 2 of the series and I am hoping for more to follow...

The story is about a man "of many hats", Cletus J. Diggs who gets caught up in some nasty business when a body is found out by the local fishing hole. BUT...this is no ordinary human body. This particular body has the head and antlers of a deer.

Definitely a repeat listen!

Not for me

I was given this book for free from audiobook boom and asked to leave an unbiased review for the author and narrator. I thought the story was a bit boring. I would have preferred more about the Pagans and less Cletus and his friends sitting around or driving around. The story is supposed to be about the body that was found and the story surrounding it I thought, but there wasn’t much on it. The narrator’s voice is very pleasant, but maybe too pleasant. Although he did attempt a good production, inflections and all he made no attempt to do various character voices so it was annoying trying to figure out who was speaking and his voice was so mellow that it was boring.
