Publisher's Summary

When it comes to the unknown territory of having a baby, moms to be have nearly unending resources to plan and execute a healthy pregnancy and navigate those first months and years as a parent with confidence. New dads? Not so much. They want to get in the game, too, but, says Super Bowl champion Benjamin Watson, "I could find clearer directions for putting together a baby swing than for taking care of a newborn child."

The New Dad's Playbook is every man's game plan to being the best partner and the best father, from preseason (preparing for fatherhood) to Super Bowl (birth) to postseason (after baby is home). It helps men understand what their wives are going through physically and emotionally during and after pregnancy, allowing them to support their most important teammate. It tells men what to expect when their baby is home - and what to do when the unexpected happens. This tell-it-like-it-is book will take men from just winging it to winning it.

Superb!

A fantastic read for a Dad to be or Dad who already is today. A lot of really useful wisdom and I formation. Greatful for a Jesus Following Brother to take time to impart his story and advice as well as yield to HIS will. Highly recommend!

I stopped reading this religious propaganda

I was truly excited about reading this book. But I was really shocked and stopped listening when I heard "it is our responsibility to talk to children about Jesus christ our lord and savior".... This is bad and harmful religious propaganda and I will be asking for a refund. Terrible choice aimed to new fathers to be converted to religion and indoctrinate children.

Chapter division and content analogies

This book is pretty great for first time dads. Very much enjoyed the thoroughness and perspectives presented by Watson.

Two details supporting my rating:
1. The chapter divisions in the audio book so nit align with the chapter divisions of the original written text. There are 90+ chapters on the audio book which makes it difficult to follow along the content divisions of the original text.
2. Watson’s analogies are generally sport related. This is his perspective and vision for the book. However, while i am athletic, I find a lack of breadth in the examples and analogies. To each his own - the audience of this book is much more diverse than Watson’s teammates.

This book is awesome

I’m someone that just got married, bought a house and my wife just told me she’s pregnant. As someone that isn’t all that ready haha. This book really helps you get informed. Things I kind didn’t know with thinks I totally didn’t know about. Totally recommend for new dads or dads to be like me.

Brand new Dad

This was a good book. It is a christ centered perspective for the most part. There are some really corny football references, but that does keep it fun. Overall, good story, lightly informative, more like a conversation with a mentor that is a Dad.

Good First dad Road map

Gives you a good overview of what to expect from pregnancy to rising a child. Some things are common sense but you will really appreciate the reminder and reaffirmation of those things to keep it in mind. Expect to listen to it at least 2 times.

The perfect book for expecting Dad's 👌

The book is jam packed full of valuable information. I actually read this book when my son was 10 months old. Everything that is discussed up until that point is spot on! If you are a new dad or an expecting dad.....this book is a MUST! -Inside Izzo Podcast

Perfect for an expecting father.

This puts a lot of things into perspective. It doesn’t go into much detail, however it gives you a great guide of what you can expect.

great

it was a great insightful book jam-packed with a lot of great helpful information for myself as a new father. Especially one that plays in the NFL right now. I'm a visual learner in the metaphors that resonated with the season coincides to help me recognize what's to come and how it relates to my life as it has always been inside a football. or leaving that back to pregnancy and being there and all of the other different helpful tips of this book helps me understand things a little different

Good Book

Good book with a lot of information but I found it very boring after going through a few chapters. Still worth recommending to new dads.

Opened my eyes

great insight into fatherhood and what women go through during pregnancy, although I found the narrator to be quite boring
