Publisher's Summary

His classmates may consider him a nerd, but Benedict Pendleton knows he's destined for great things. All he has to do is find a worthy girlfriend, and his social station will be secured. Sure, Benedict is different - but that's what he likes about himself.

Pen Lupo is sick and tired of hiding who she is. On the outside Pen is popular, quiet, and deferential to her boyfriend. On the inside, however, Pen is honest, opinionated - and not sure that she's quite like other girls. Do they have urges like she does?

When fate intervenes, Pen and Benedict end up at the same vacation resort for winter break. Despite their differences, the two are drawn together. But is there such a thing as happily ever after for this unlikely pair?

With an afterword read by the author.

I'm an adult, reading YA fiction...

The story is cute and I appreciate that the author incorporates sexuality and consent into the narrative. Teenagers deserve to know they aren't freaks for being horny little beasts and that consent is sexy. However, the acknowledgements portion of the book was dumb and confusing.

Good

It's definitely aimed towards teenagers that are discovering themselves. It's not called The Needy and the Dirty for no reason. There's a good bit of sex involved , and there's talk of masturbation. The characters face some awkward moments that would make anyone catch second-hand embarrassment. The narration was good. Overall a good read. I enjoyed the main characters.

The predictable unpredictability

The story itself was predictable but it made you think of things you usually don't think about

I loved this book so much!!

This book was so great! Finally an honest teenage book, with silly drama but also serious problems and relatable stories. I truly loved the narrators and the switch between the two characters, it added a lot to the experience of listening to the book :) I totally recommend it!

So Freaking Adorable

You need to listen to this book. It was equal parts touching, hilarious, and adorable. And so real. I loved how the author took such a taboo subject like sex in high school and made it into something that wasn't taboo at all...just completely real and fun and REAL. Seriously. Get this audio book. It's the best book I've listened to in a long, long time.

I was pleasantly surprised

I love anything read by Julia Whelan, but I kept avoiding this book for some reason. I finally bought it and I am glad I did. The book was funny, sweet, clever and charming all at the same time. It is a very good read!

This book was great...obviously (wink wink) :)

I usually don't read YA books, but if its narrated by Julia Whelan, then I'll have to read it because it'll be good...and also the story sounded good!
This book was so real as to what 'socially challenged ' kiddos are like. I liked the storyline, characters, and dialogue.
Fantastic book! I wish the author had more books!

My doubts over turned

When I first started to listen to this book I was annoyed by Benedict and his father as they were just so full of themselves but as the story went on I started to love it soo much and I really want more and know more about what happened to these amazing characters !!!!!
