Publisher's Summary

The Narrows: A Harry Bosch Novel, Book 10: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!*

Booktrack editions are essentially a new genre of digital storytelling entertainment.  Music and ambient audio are added to complement and enhance the audiobook experience. It is a synchronized movie-style soundtrack that complements the narration of existing audiobooks; the tempo and rhythm of the score harmonize with action, dialogue and the characters' emotional arcs.

FBI agent Rachel Walling finally gets the call she's dreaded for years, the one that tells her the Poet has surfaced. She has never forgotten the serial killer who wove lines of poetry in his hideous crimes - and apparently he has not forgotten her.

Former LAPD detective Harry Bosch gets a call, too - from the widow of an old friend. Her husband's death seems natural, but his ties to the hunt for the Poet make Bosch dig deep. Arriving at a derelict spot in the California desert where the feds are unearthing bodies, Bosch joins forces with Rachel. Now the two are at odds with the FBI...and squarely in the path of the Poet, who will lead them on a wicked ride out of the heat, through the narrows of evil, and into a darkness all his own...

*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

Another well spun Bosch novel

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

YES

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bosch

Which scene was your favorite?

When Harry recognizes that the brothel dwelling suspect is the Poet

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

1 Road trip - YES

Any additional comments?

This is a classic Connelly offering that weaves together characters from several story lines, and rewards faithful followers with back story from each. The more familiar you are with Harry Bosch, Rachel Walling, Terry McCaleb ,and even the Poet - the greater the satisfaction with this novel.

Distracting sound effects

Loved the story and the reader was excellent. However I did not like the sound effects, I found them distracting.

What is up with the stupid music and POS sounds?

I couldn't even make it past the 45 minute mark. Who was the book written for? Where did the tough Harry Bosh go? When he talks about his daughter and his ex wife it just stresses me out, because it's so touchy feely and sappy!
I get it, I have a daughter and a wife I love very much, but that's not what this book is supposed to be about. I feel like I bought movie tickets to see Training Day, and 15 minutes into the movie they switched the channel to some wholesome Lifetime Sunday afternoon special with weird music and dumb sound effects.
WTF, such a let down to do this at book 10 in the series!
A spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down...
Redrum please!
I'm sure the book gets a little better, but I just can't take it.

Book track was a distraction.

great story. Booktrack was very distracting! please let me turn it off! The "soundtrack" with its many noises etc constantly "alerted" me to things that weren't actually happening in real life as I walked, worked, or drove while listening. Audiobooks shouldn't present a safety hazard like that.

Horrible Music

The constant background music is terrible. I can't imagine what they were thinking when they recorded. It constantly overshadows the narration throughout the entire book. Great story, but a horrible rendition of the audiobook.

Annoying sound effects detract from the story

The story is good, and do is the reader, but there was a constant irritation from random sound effects and electronic music. That is the reason for only 3 stars. I think there’s an edition without the gratuitous noise, and I recommend that one, not this one.

Constant Background Noise

Make sure your not a dummy like me and fail to read the part where it mentions that this version is sound effects and music and other background noises throughout the entire book. It bugged for about an hour until I got used to it.

On the other hand, the audio is clearer on this version vs the original production.

As far as the story, it doesn’t disappoint.

Definitely worth a credit.
