Story Impressions –

Life is meant to be lived to the fullest, no matter who you are or what you’ve been through. In this audiobook, readers are treated to a wide array of stories dealing with the human experience. Each story is different in length, subject matter, and emotional tension but all have a message. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the stories. The writing is complex and sophisticated. The writing reminds me of some of literature’s classic novelists. Addictive at times, this audiobook will keep you entertained for hours.

Narrator’s overall voice –

Scott Fleming narrates each story with a different inflection. His voice is appealing yet doesn’t detract from the stories.

Does the narrator fit the characters?

Yes, the narrator uses his voice like an instrument, differing it to fit the characters.

Narrator’s reading style –

There’s an easiness to Scott Fleming’s style which makes listening to him a breeze.

Narrator’s impact on reading experience –

Scott Fleming makes the characters come alive. Readers can enjoy listening to him and ponder each story being told.

Narrator’s pacing –

The pacing is even and doesn’t detract the reader’s attention.

Audiobook flow –

The audiobook flows well. Nothing to complain about here.

What makes this audiobook unique –

What I found so unique about this audiobook was the music interludes. This is so much more than a reading of the book.

Would I recommend this audiobook –

Yes, I would recommend it to any listener. You’ll be entertained for a multitude of hours.

An Unexpected Delight

Normally, I would not be drawn to short stories or collections, but after reading Calamitous Fortunes, I was hooked by the author's unique delivery. I was not disappointed with The Name of the Book. Often with a twist or shocking revelation, I found myself contemplating the characters and their stories long after I had put the book down for the night. The pace and the variety of each chapter was compelling enough to cause pause and addicting enough to want more. I am eager for the next book in the series!
