Publisher's Summary

A timely update to the phenomenal national bestseller.

Soon after its quiet release during the height of the Red Scare in 1958, The Naked Communist: Exposing Communism and Restoring Freedom exploded in popularity, selling almost two million copies to date and finding its way into the libraries of the CIA, the FBI, the White House, and homes all across the United States. From the tragic falls of China, Korea, Russia, and the UN, to the fascinating histories of Alger Hiss, Whittaker Chambers, Elizabeth Bentley, and General MacArthur, The Naked Communist lays out the entire graphic story of communism, its past, present, and future.

After searching unsuccessfully for a concise literature on the communist threat, W. Cleon Skousen saw the urgent need for a comprehensive book that could guide the American conversation. So he distilled his FBI experience, decades of research, and more than one hundred communist books and treatises into one clarifying, readable volume that became a touchstone of American values and earned praise from the likes of President Ronald Reagan, Glenn Beck, and Ben Carson. Lauded by one reviewer as “the most powerful book on communism since J. Edgar Hoover’s Masters of Deceit,” this text draws a detailed picture of the communist as he sees himself: stripped of propaganda and pretense. Readers gain a unique insight into the inner workings of communism - its appeal, its history, its basic and unchanging concepts, even its secret timetable of conquest.

Among the many questions The Naked Communist answers are:

* Who gave the United States’ nuclear secrets to the Russians?* How did the FBI fight communism after it was forced underground in 1918?* Why did the West lose 600 million allies after World War II? * What really happened in Korea?* What is communism’s great secret weapon?* What lies ahead?* What can I do to stop communism? * How can we fight communism without a major war?

Now updated for 2017, this edition includes a chapter on the forty-five Communist Goals, detailing how forty-four of those goals have been achieved in the U.S. already, as well as a chapter on the making of The Naked Communist, shedding light on how this book has sold almost two million copies. As relevant now as it was sixty years ago, Skousen’s groundbreaking work provides a renewed understanding of one of the greatest threats facing America today.

Critic Reviews

“No one is better qualified to discuss the threat to this nation from communism. You will be alarmed, you will be informed, and you’ll be glad you heard him.” - President Ronald Reagan
“The Naked Communist lays out the whole progressive plan. It is unbelievable how fast it has been achieved.” - Dr. Ben Carson ( The Sean Hannity Show; May 23, 2014)
“I went back and I read The Naked Communist, and at the end of that, Skousen predicted [that] someday soon you won’t be able to find the truth in schools or in libraries or anywhere else because it won’t be in print anymore. So you must collect those books. It’s an idea I read from Cleon Skousen from his book in the 1950s, The Naked Communist, where he talked about [how] someday the history of this country’s going to be lost because it’s going to be hijacked by intellectuals and communists and everything else. And I think we’re there.” - Glenn Beck, host of the nationally syndicated Glenn Beck Radio Program

Insightful and fantastic

for many years I have, as a young american and word traveler, felt that tgere was something profoundly wrong and twisted with tge conventional descriptions of communism v. capitalism. After my search for truth brought me to Norway I was recommended this book by rye late great Norwegian film producer, Ragnar Godhjerte. The opening chapters of the book began to almost instantly fill the holes in my knowledge I knew were there and, as time went on, it built my foundation of economic knowledge into the framework of actual understanding. Then, to end the book, the solutions we find are extremely helpful.

Wake up and see the truth

This is a good informational book that takes you through the beginning of communism with Karl Marx and then how those ideals were used with Lenin. It is eye opening to see how far the world has come and to see how close the USA is to turning over our system to Marxists-Leninists. It will result in millions dead. In every country that has embraced it that is the scariest and easiest part to predict. 10's of MILLIONS have died at that hands of communism. I hope we are smart enough to thwart it.

Do You Love Liberty?

Every freedom-loving American should read or listen to this book. If we don't understand what Communism is, if we don't heed what is happening at the hand of Communist influencers, we'll never be able to hold onto our liberty. It's only a matter of time unless we teach our children the difference between the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence and socialist and communist-based governments. It's "a Republic, Madam, if you can keep it." (Benjamin Franklin)

Excellent

No better account of the root cause of 20th century wars. Communist aggression. Still alive even today.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

"Must Reading" before the 2016 elections

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I've heard about this book for years. Finally, here's a format so I can listen while driving, etc. The book gives a clean description of the reasons that America is in the mess it is in today---and, the way out is therefore more easily seen and understood. It is suitable content for high school and above. Skousen gives history, context, reasons and warnings. Being an old book, some might dismiss it and that would be a mistake. It sounds like it was written for today. Finally, a breath of fresh air regarding America's problems. Now I'm pointed in the right direction to help turn things around.

Which character – as performed by Mark Deakins – was your favorite?

Deakins performance brings the nonfiction subject matter to a high level of delightful listening, and thereby, greater understanding. I've heard other works by Deakins and I'd recommend this particular book for those not yet familiar with him---you will become a fan.

If you could give The Naked Communist a new subtitle, what would it be?

How to Prevent the Fall of the United States

Any additional comments?

People who believe the Constitution is out of date need to read what happens when documents such as that one, and the Declaration of Independence, are pushed aside for alternative forms of government such as Communism and Socialism. Skousen spells it out clearly and succinctly. People who think they've got these upcoming elections all figured out should first read this book---it will prevent some bad judgments from being made at the ballot box.

Great book, insightful and well written.

This should be read by all to understand what Communism truly is and that it is not just another economic system and the threat that the ideology poses. It's long but stays interesting and is broken down well into different chapters.
