Anna is the newest member of an elite ballet company. Her first class with her mysterious idol Victoria almost ruins her career before it starts. When she shows she might be a potential star, Victoria chooses Anna to launch a new season around.
Now Anna must face down jealousy, sabotage, and injury, not to mention navigate the circus of friends and lovers within the company. The pressure builds as she knows she must pour everything she has into opening night and prove to her rivals and herself that Victoria’s faith in her is not misplaced.
In the process, Anna discovers that she and the daring, beautiful Victoria have a lot more than a talent for ballet in common, and that not every thrilling dance can be found on stage.

The story is beautifully crafted; with its twists, turns, and drama, this is one you cannot pass by. This book made me laugh, gasp, and almost cry when it finally came to an end. I wasn’t sad about the ending…just that it ended. I could follow Anna and Victoria’s story line until they were both senior citizens.
Do yourself a favor: pick this up now. You won’t regret it!

Wonderful

Palpable chemistry between the main characters and a glimpse into the world of professional ballet dancers I've known nothing about, but found fascinating. The narration enhances the story further - it's among my favourite audiobooks.p

The narrator was not entirely what I was looking for but she didn't at all take away from the story. I was honestly hoping Stephanie Murphy had been chosen to narrate as she has a nack for making a story really come alive with her voice changes and the passion she pours into the stories she narrates.
I'm in love!❤

A. Rakocy brings the characters to life in this story. Took me right in and just brushed me out when it finished.

Loved, loved, loved.. this story. The author is either involved in ballet or really did her research because everything felt real and authentic (granted I don't know much about ballet beyond a yearly attendance to the nutcracker but I was impressed). I loved the description of the dancing, what is looked like and felt like. I wish I could see the photos from the photo shoot described in the book. In fact, I would suggest googling some photos of ballerina's to enhance your visualization of the dance poses and just how graceful these professionals really are.
I am not normally a huge fan of ice queens, but Victoria is an amazing character and her behavior and attitudes make sense for who she is what she does for a living. She is not being mean just to be mean. Anna's ability to deal with Victoria's behavior in the most positive ways also helps to temper my normal response of "why does she have to such a bitch?" :) I would even say that Victoria rarely strays into straight up bitch territory, she is strict, demanding and biting at times, but not really bitchy.
This is slow burn and when they finally get together its great. The angst at this point is fairly low. The drama comes from the other story elements and not so much between how the characters feel for each other, other then a little wobble of assumptions right at the beginning.
I really enjoyed everything about this story and I would read an entire series of books about them, the ballet performances they are involved in and their lives together until they retire as graceful grande dames to their villa in the south of France. Please Ms Keeley?
