Knives Out meets Downton Abbey! Secrets, murder, and mayhem collide as this unlikely sleuthing duoan under-butler and a foul-mouthed octogenarianhunt a killer in a manor sealed against the end of the world, in this locked-room mystery by #1 New York Times bestselling author Ross Montgomery. Featuring special narration from legendary actor Derek Jacobi!

Cornwall, 1910. On a remote tidal island, the Viscount of Tithe Hall is absorbed in feverish preparations for the apocalypse that he believes will accompany the passing of Halley's Comet. The Hall must be sealed from top to bottom—every window, chimney, and keyhole closed off before night falls. But what the pompous, dishonest Viscount has failed to take into account is the danger that lies within... By morning, he will be dead in his sealed study, murdered by his own ancestral crossbow.

All eyes turn to Stephen Pike, Tithe Hall's newest under-butler. Fresh out of Borstal for a crime he didn't commit, he is the wrong man in the wrong place at the wrong time. His unlikely ally? Miss Decima Stockingham, the foul-mouthed, sharp as a tack, eighty-year-old family matriarch. Fearless and unconventional, she relishes chaos and puzzles alike, and a murder is just the thrill she's been waiting for.

Together, this mismatched duo must navigate secret passages, buried grudges, and rising terror to unmask the killer before it's too late...

The story was very well written, and the voice actor was fantastic. Every time Miss. Decima cursed at Stephen, I could help but laugh.

Must read if you like mystery novels.

This book was advertised as Knives Out meets Downtown Abby. And it lived up to those expectations. A true page turner. Set in 1910 in Cornwall with the approach of Halley’s Comet. And this singular event sets wheels in motion that will keep you turning page after page. Wonderful break from my non fiction tomes.

One of the best locked room mysteries I’ve read in a while

The Murder at World’s End was a delightful read. The story pulled me in quickly, the characters felt genuinely deep and well drawn, and I appreciated that I didn’t have everything fully figured out by the end. It kept me engaged, curious, and thinking, right through the final pages.

Delightful story!

I had so much fun with this book! It’s a classic whodunnit with strong Downton Abbey vibes and something entertaining in every chapter. Ms. Decima is a feisty, sharp-witted older gal who doesn’t take nonsense from anyone. She teams up with the new young footman, Stephen, and the two sneak around conducting their own sleuthing to uncover the murderer. The laughs and antics along the way kept me smiling the whole time. Such an easy, enjoyable read! Great narration!😍
