Publisher's Summary

An illuminating exploration of Ireland's ancient dark goddess - the beloved "phantom queen" of the Celtic world - with practices for modern-day devotees.

The Morrigan is one of Pagan Ireland's most famous - and notorious - goddesses. Her name translated as "phantom queen" or "great queen," the Morrigan is famous for being a goddess of war, witchcraft and death, protection and retribution. This book also explores her patronage of motherhood, healing, shapeshifting, and the land.

Classified among the Sidhe (fairies), the Morrigan dates back at least to Ireland's Iron Age, but she is as modern as she is ancient-enjoying a growing contemporary and global following.

Author Courtney Weber provides a guide for the modern devotee of this complex, mysterious goddess that encompasses practical veneration with modern devotionals, entwined with traditional lore and Irish-Celtic history.

Courtney Weber is a great author. The narrator however leaves a bit to be desired.

BAD CHOICE FOR READER VOICE

like, misophonia levels of bad. content is great, just wish they’d have hired an irish reader and/or someone whose voice doesn’t sound like a bread machine infomercial from the 90s.

This could be a great book with wonderful

information. I am sure it is. I just couldn't get past the narrator. So boring.

great book to learn about the Morrigan

This book taught me a lot about ancient Celtic culture in regards to the Morrigan, a terrifying and misunderstood goddess from Ancient Ireland. the author recounts myths about the goddess and contextualizes them for modern sensibilities. she does a great job making the practice of worshipping and honoring the Morrigan accessible for modern devotees

Excellent information

I originally chose this book on The Morrigan because Lora O'Brian had recommended it. Lora O'Brian is someone I trust in recommending authors and teachers of Irish Pagan history. That being said, I am very glad I was able to listen to this book on Audible. Courtney Weber gives the listener/ reader a lot of information on The Morrigan and also includes different perspectives allowing the listener/reader to research and make up their own mind on how they interpret the history. I plan on reading more from this author.

brilliant book, super bad reader ruined it.

This book is brilliant, no wishy washy bullshit. The reader ruined it. I put up with it for 1/2 of book but couldn't take it anymore. I seen on the Irish pagan group that Courtney didn't pick her reader n only knew her book was being made in2 audio when they needed advice of pronouncing words. NOT GOOD AUDIBLE!!!

Horrible audio

I didn't even get a chance to get into the book. I plan on purchasing the hard copy because I've wanted to read this for ages but I only got 1 minute and a half into the audio book because the audio is clunky and irritating to listen to.
