To be loved by a shadow in the Mist.
Every month, for three days, a mysterious fog filled with demonic creatures swallows the world. Since its first appearance a decade ago, I’ve diligently secured my home against the danger. Today, my sister’s negligence has allowed something in. A Mistwalker. A part of him now resides inside of me, his brand on my chest a constant reminder of his presence. He terrifies me and threatens to derail the life I’ve been building. And yet, a part of me is drawn to him.…
I have walked two worlds to be with her.
For years, I have lurked in the Mist, lying in wait for the opportunity to get to my fiery Jade. Now that humans have torn the Veil, nothing will keep me from crossing into the Mortal Plane to claim her. She’s my mate. I will not allow her to hide from the truth she knows deep within her but fears to acknowledge. I was made for her. I am her greatest wish.

I am surprised the narrator is a male when most of the book was from the POV of the female lead. His voice was almost detached at times and unless there was great emotion needed sounded clinical. He was not good at discerning between the female and male POV and at times made it difficult to understand who was talking/thinking.
Lovely story tho! Definitely, HEA don't worry.
An unexpected jewel in the rough

In this book, every month for three days, the world is covered by a mist. It is said that the mist can kill people if they are out in it. So, everyone locks their windows and doors, and the mist doesn't bother them.
I loved the idea of this book. Spoiler warning if you don't want to know.... the mist is everyone's dreams. Good dreams and bad dreams that feed off of anyone's emotions in order to get energy.
At the beginning of the book Jades little sister carelessly leaves her window open. The girls struggle to close the window before the mist gets in. Unfortunately, or fortunately, some of the mist in the shape of a hand is able to get in. This mist "monster works its way into Jade's mind and she starts having intimate dreams about it. We find out that it is Jade's dream of the perfect guy.
We also find out that a lot of times the people will leave the human world and live in the mist. The perfect guy, Kazan, wants to slowly get Jade comfortable with the idea of him. So, he starts dating her in a, for lack of a better word, meat suit.
The plot of the book is great. About 3/4 of the way through the book we are introduced to Jade's first nightmare, Morgan. I liked the idea of having Morgan/ the nightmare in the book because it made it clearer that Kazan was not bad like we were made to believe at the beginning. That there were good dreams and bad dreams.
The part that I didn't like was the writing once Morgan showed up. If you aren't paying attention, it would be easy to think a long period of time had occurred between Morgan showing up and Morgan and Kazan fighting it out. But it was just a couple days. It seemed like a long time because we got a summary of what was happening from Kazan and it was a lot. Him describing what Jade was doing and how he didn't want her to go to work. The "men in black" trying to find Morgan with no luck. Them not sure if Morgan was killing people but not knowing because the "men in black" are hiding it or he just wasn't killing people. I would have preferred to read what was happening instead of being told what happened. If it was important enough to put in the book, I want to read it as it happens. Otherwise, don't put it in the book.
With all of that I would probably rate this book 3.0-3.5 but in the end, this book made me cry and any book that makes me cry gets some extra credit.
Loved the idea of the book
