Raef, a lonely merman, spends his days watching the dashing Lord Haverford from afar and dreaming of love. When Haverford is robbed by a pirate, Raef vows to reclaim the stolen goods, hoping his victory will buy him the happiness he yearns for with Haverford.

But Jon Kemp does not match what Raef knows about pirates, and the simple quest Raef anticipated turns out to be an epic journey. For while Jon might be a nobler man than Raef believed, he's still a pirate. Love and loyalty are not on Jon's agenda, and he certainly has no plans to love someone not entirely human....

A great caste of characters, swashbuckling, a mer seeking love in all the wrong places but finding it. Great character development, twists a turns and some nice HEA.

I love this story so much because of the fact that it is part of one of my favorite books and one of my Go to stories when I just need to relax and enjoy something fun and magical and enjoy the love of a pirate and mermaid but it's so nice to see a mermaid man instead of a mermaid I know there is typical hetero stereotypes but I really like seeing the odd about how a mermaid man will actually become happy with his Prince Charming even though that Prince may not be a prince so I hope this helps and I think if you're gay person or if you like gay stories this would be the story that you should really start with because it's one of us, but yet really good one so I hope this helps and I hope that you give it a try thank you

I love story

I bought this book as a bit of brain candy with fairly low expectations. What I got was a fantastic swashbuckler with a wonderful story. The characters are easy to love and, despite it being a romance for two men, Berrisford doesn't leave the ladies out. The women in this book are just as enchanting as our leading men and I'd love to read a book just about them!

There are points when the wording seems a little goofy, but when you consider it's from Raef's point of view, it makes it actually very endearing. Overall, there were no boring parts. Each resolution had a new twist that kept my interest. It was romantic and sexy without being too overloaded with smut. I'd consider this book a very pleasant surprise.

Bless the voice actor's heart he really gets into those sex scenes. I had to force my way through most of this. The minor characters were much more interesting than the main ones and I just wish the book had been about them.

underwhelming
