Publisher's Summary

From the creator of the #1 hit Netflix series Stay Close comes a gripping thriller in which Wilde follows a tip that may finally reveal the truth behind his abandonment—only to end up in the sights of a ruthless killer.

After months away, Wilde has returned to the Ramapo Mountains in the wake of a failed bid at domesticity that confirms what he’s known all along: He belongs on his own, free from the comforts and constraints of modern life.

Suddenly, a DNA match on an online ancestry database brings Wilde closer to his past than he’s ever dreamed, and finally gives Wilde the opening he needs to track down his father. But meeting the man brings up more questions than answers. So Wilde reaches out to his last, most desperate lead, a second cousin who disappears as quickly as he resurfaces, having experienced an epic fall from grace that can only be described as a waking nightmare.

Was his cousin’s downfall a long time coming? Or was he the victim of a conspiracy as cunning as it is complex? And how does it all connect to the man once known as The Stranger, a treacherous fugitive with a growing following whose mission and methods have only turned more dangerous with time?

Best book I’ve listened to…

…this year!!!! I loved it! What a tangled web of lies, secrets and betrayal. In this book Wilde attempts to trace his history through the use DNA sites that give the subscriber possible family matches based on DNA similarities.
After receiving first one to a parent who after stressing and micro analyzing he chooses to meet with out first getting in contact to see if this is mutually acceptable.
He then attempts to connect with a possible cousin only to find out the man has committed suicide and he could have possibly prevented it. He finds out this cousin was adopted and this spikes his interest even more. After digging into the circumstances surrounding his death Wilde is sure the man may still be alive. He’s a reality show winner who is wrongfully publicly shamed for an indiscretion he actually didn’t commit. As Wilde begins looking into it people begin dying. Wilde is set up and if not for the indestructible Hester he might not have gotten out of it.
Meanwhile his relationship with his deceased best friend’s wife (Hester’s daughter in law) begins to heat up.
There is a GREAT SURPRISE ENDING.
Steven Weber does a wonderful job narrating.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

Confused

Normally I love every book by Coben. This one left me with more questions than answers.
How do the two families connect? I don’t get it.
Someone please articulate!!!

Meh

I wish I liked this book more, but honestly I couldn’t wait for it to be over. I only sympathized with One of the characters, so that made it difficult to enjoy the story. I will say, I did not see the twist coming, however it was still uneventful.

Rehash?

Have you ever read/listened to a book for the second time but you don’t realize it until the end? You remember what happened a split second before it happens? That is how I felt about this book - it is almost like the overarching themes were in another book and I saw the plot lines unfold. I was never a fan of the Wilde plot line and I did not like it this time either. I remain a major Harlan Coben fan but this was flat.

Keep the Wild coming!

Both books have been fantastic. Not only
Do I want more Wild, I would love an origin story. I also love how you brought Winn into the first Wild story via Hester. I would also love to read more Winn stories.

Family portrait

The Match is the electrifying sequel to the best selling novel The Boy from the Woods from award-winning and #1 New York Times best-selling author, Harlan Coben. In this simply unputdownable continuation Harlan Coben does what he knows best and delivers another captivating story for readers and listeners alike.
What M going to tell you about the plot is that Wild, our main character is pulled into another dangerous adventure when he tries to find out more about his lost family and why he was left in the woods while he was just a small child.
The writing is excellent, the story is captivating, the action moves fast and the mysteries keep on coming until the extremely satisfying conclusion.
Renowned actor, voiceover artist and narrator Steven Weber returns once again to this interconnected world created by the author and brings to life another extremely vividly depicted cast of characters. As always, this tremendously talented team formed by author Harlan Coben and narrator Steven Weber never disappoints, and with every new book, they take their game to the next level. The Match is fast, furious, mysterious, dark, timely and completely immersive.

my least favorite Harlan Coben series

I don't love Wild I don't love Hester as a matter of fact none of the characters in the series really appeal to me. I feel terrible because I think Harlan Coben is absolutely brilliant.
