Publisher's Summary

RITA finalist Julie Klassen has earned numerous awards for her popular historical romance novels. In The Maid of Fairbourne Hall, pampered Margaret Macy flees her home in London to avoid marrying a dishonorable man. Now, with no money and no place to stay, Margaret does the unthinkable: she takes a job as a housemaid in the home of two brothers - both of whom are former suitors. As an “invisible” observer, Margaret realizes she may have misjudged one brother and wonders if it’s too late to win his admiration.

Interesting and enlightening

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to friends. I is very interesting to hear about the upper class in relationship to the servants. Servants were very loyal. I found it very interesting.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Maid of Fairbourne Hall?

When she was learning about how the servants worked so hard and found how unappreciative she had previously been

Which scene was your favorite?

Several scenes were really good but I can't say I had a favorite scene. I enjoyed all of them.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have liked to listen to it in one sitting however life does go on.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoy historically based novels. For some reason they grab my attention more than others. I enjoyed this book very much

Leads you on a rollercoaster then falls flat

Would you recommend The Maid of Fairbourne Hall to your friends? Why or why not?

I am on the fence. It is very interesting book but missed the mark for me overall.

What does Elizabeth Jasicki bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is a very good narrator.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Maybe

Any additional comments?

SPOILER ALERT:

This book ended without an epilogue or finishing up lose ends.

Praying praying praying

The beginning was decent but then the hero is constantly praying and thinking and praying and thinking and everything goes awry around them while they are praying and thinking. It drags and drags and drags based on misunderstanding after misunderstanding and the central conceit is workable for a while but goes on and on and in and in. Skip it

Not your typical, one drama romance.

fav

this is my all-time favorite book. I wasn't into reading it all until I pick this book up one day because I like the cover art. I have read it so many times and now I listen to it when I'm on the road. The narrator is wonderful. The offer is extraordinary I love all of her books.

Only just makes it as a Romance novel !!

This was a good enough story and very insightful as to the servant's lives and duties but it just didn't have enough romance in it to ring my bell - infact it wasn't until the very very very end (I'm talking last chapter!) that they got together.

If it's a history lesson you want then this is your kinda book but if you're looking for historical romance then pass on this one and look elsewhere.

Would I listen to it again - No

Worth the credit - No - way too slow for me

Love it!

Third by this author, my favorite! Great narrator, minimal technical issues. Fast-paced, exciting, well-written, moving.

Very good

Great book for its length...took a bit to get started but kept you interested all of the way to the end.

Good story, but seemed to end abruptly.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Maybe. It's a good story, but seems to end so abruptly it's really disappointing.

If you’ve listened to books by Julie Klassen before, how does this one compare?

Well it seemed to me as if the writer just ran out material and ended the story. No epilogue, etc.

Any additional comments?

Listened quickly, enjoyed the story and mystery, but was disappointed in the last couple of chapters and specifically the abrupt ending.

One of Julie Klassen’s best stories

Interesting all the way through the book. After reading her books one after another, I’m still not tired of these wonderful stories or the way they are told. Looking forward to my next
