okay but tired of the romantic teasing
the fourth book and still there is much to be desired in the romance department. I think the author writes well but the slowness of the romance between Matt and India is very trying on the nerves and makes it so the book is a struggle to finish.

Great series
I really do enjoy this series. The characters and story line are great. My only problem with it is that i don't really see the plot moving along. I feel like the story its being stretch out too much in order to get more books out. I really do hope the 5th book it's more complete and it actually starts developing the character's relationships.

Family reunions - This is a great one!
Thank you, Lord Jesus, we have finally found Chronos. I could not take another book with them solving other mysteries while searching for Chronos. Finally, we are making progress! The characters have been developed and they are working together as a unit.
The timeline between Matt and India meeting has just been months. In that short time what began as a secret, the existence of magic, is common knowledge. Think of how many times Matt and India have ended up at the hospital questioning doctors, or the number of guilds that we have learned that has magic users. I really liked the map makers. Now magic becomes front page news.
Chronos is India’s grandfather. Grandpa and India have their coming to Jesus moment. There is anger, forgiveness, and understanding. They share the knowledge of magic. It seems with magic being secret, there is no learning process. It is not like Harry Potter where you study and proceed up levels. It seems that India’s magic is unique that Grandpa can only be amazed. I am disappointed in the lack of development for India’s magic.
Matt’s watch situation has improved. Yea!!! I got tired if the constant panic and dire situation with his health. Now we need a medical doctor to add to the watch magic. To find a doctor they must solve a 27-year-old mystery. Of course, there are people out there who want that to stay secret. It resolves some issues for our characters. India get restitution and revenge from Eddie and she can satisfy her dilemma concerning her grandpa.
Willie, whom I love, is hiding a secret which is not resolved. But she gets to pull her Colt and threaten the life of someone. She is still wild, but her brusqueness and rudeness has softened around her house mates.
There is less match making for Matt. Matt’s English cousins do not get much book time. That made an uninterrupted flow into the mystery. There are enough twist and turns to keep your attention.
Our couple, Matt and India, finally took their romance up a level. All the others in the group are still making baby steps.
I enjoy the story but with 4 books and the slow progress with getting the watch fixed ... I only gave it 4 stars.

Great story and narrator, a few production blips
This is a terrific series exploring craft magicians in Victorian England. There is a proper lady, a working class English female, an heir that was raised in America, and his band of family and friends who assist the law in sometimes questionable ways. Matthew and Indie look for a diary to help Matt and find it in the most unexpected place. Indie continues her journey from protected daughter to independent woman. A really quick, fun read.

Wow. The narration grets worse and worse, with the protagonist now always sounding like a weak, whiny baby. I really dislike her by now, but primarily because of the narration. However, the story has more and more inconsistencies too. Disappointing when I started out so excited by these characters.
