Publisher's Summary

A step-by-step program guides actors through the phases of self-awareness that expand emotional and physical range, not only on stage, but in daily life.

Actors! Engage your mind and your body in order to develop your characters fully. The Lucid Body technique breaks up stagnant movement patterns and expands your emotional and physical range. Through energy analysis, this program shows how to use physical training to create characters from all walks of life - however cruel, desolate, or neurotic those characters may be.

Rooted in the exploration of the seven chakra energy centers, The Lucid Body reveals how each body holds the possibility of every human condition. Learn how to analyze the character, hear the inner body, dissect the self into layers of consciousness, and more.

A Wonderful Conceptual Framework for the Actor

I've been pursuing acting as a profession for just under a year and I have tried to study and train as much as possible in that relatively short period of time. I feel extremely fortunate to have come across this book. It's based on the premise that actors can use the different chakras, or energy systems, present in each person to make authentic characters which truly embody attributes different from our own. Even if you feel reluctant about buying into the spirituality inherent in the concept of chakras (I would count myself among this group), you don't have to commit to any belief system or even believe chakras exist in actual fact. You could take the pragmatic approach and act as if those energy centers exist and I believe you can still tap into the power and wisdom of this technique.

Great Book

Great and useful book. However, the reader blew it for me when she tried to act out lines from plays. She was just terrible to listen too.

Interesting ideas

I liked this book. Whilst it could seem rather esoteric for some, it is in fact very practical and has useful and interesting ideas.
