I laughed, cried, and wanted to scream for these characters! Audiobook voiced perfectly, physical book absolutely stunning.

Kristin Cast has a way of pulling characters into the world that feels like a version of yourself, healing as they do through a fantastical and world shifting metamorphosis. Gemma is so much braver than I could imagine being, but every woman knows some of the challenges she faces. We may not be chased around a castle by a blood magic obsessed queen and her evil priest, but it’s easier to relate to her personal relationships. We probably all have a toxic ex that made us hopeful for too long. We’ve felt the hands of a man that only wanted to use our body. Most of us know how it feels to be “wanted” in a physical way, but not equally respected and valued as more than a body with curves. This story isn’t just about magick, it’s about the strength to risk everything for the sake of self respect and reliance.
