First and foremost the narrator raises her voice in random dialogue when voicing Kiki so that wasn’t the best but her overall voice was fine. Secondly the book was like being trapped in a cycle.

Overall this book is way too fast paced and repetitive. Sloane inviting Kiki was very interesting because why would you invite your ex to a party your current and very new interest is at? I can see how that would be frustrating for KiKi —I’m unsure if Kiki knew this information.

In one minute of audio time she goes from wanting to rekindle a relationship, and essentially stalking Sloane. She says she didn’t think they were meant to last but in the same scene when Nicky repeats it back to her she gets defensive. Immediately followed by saying they had dreams that didn’t align but she feels as though he forgot about her too quickly …. All of this followed by walking to the man and his current GF to randomly “talk” about her feelings. I understand that it’s a short story but all of that emotion in once breath was a bit much.

Months later (chapter 5) she was still pinning over the man and it became a bit repetitive. From the realizing they should “not” rekindle the relationship (which they rekindle the next chapter), pangs in her chest, the sinking feeling when Diamond walks over, embracing friendships, and even re-confronting her feelings (chapter 2). This was a bit strange because she said she was healing through her self discovery. Chapter 5 was unnecessary because for a short story we won’t forget what we just read/listened to (3 short chapters earlier)

Asking him his feelings and using “I don’t think we should rush back into anything” when he’s saying “I don’t want you” (chapter 2) is weird from his response now (chapter 7) of “I want to explore this further if we think there’s something still here” LITERALLY FOLLOWED BY HIM DATING DIAMOND OFFICIALLY IN CHAPTER 8! The same chapter where she’s actively flirting with him and saying she’s competing for his attention.

Kiki did not move on when it says Kiki moving on but chapter 8 is also called moving on when again she does NOT move on. (Spoiler alert she literally never moves on, they become a trio but not a harem) Chapter 9 she says they have a rivalry?!!? Like what? She just said she liked her in chapter 5 when they were at the art exhibit and exchanged numbers! Chapter 10 they all become “friends” …yet again… followed by strains in the relationships…again …. Followed by relationships strengthened …. Back and forth like a seesaw every other chapter. Safe to say I finished because I promised an honest review.
