Publisher's summary

Dear Fiona,

I hope this letter finds you well—and by well, I mean significantly less infuriated than you were yesterday. I’ve wanted to continue our conversation from the night we met, but there are so many things I can’t say or do, now that I’m your professor.

As an anonymous letter writer, I can give you some idea of what I have planned for us, once the year is over. As an author, I can share my work in progress with you. Not for you to critique but to show you how much you mean to me.

When you’re done reading this page, destroy it—and then write me back. Don’t sign the letter. Don’t put a return address on the envelope. Mail it from a random mailbox.

Yours in problem solving,

Me

P.S. I still think you’re wasting your talent on that historical romance novel.

P.P.S. I really wanted to push you up against the door and kiss your beautiful, angry face. I will. One day.

***

Dear Emmett,

Your handwriting is almost as terrible as your mood swings, and it would have been my instinct to destroy that letter even if you hadn’t ordered me to.

If you show me your work in progress, I will critique it.

I am currently still too infuriated to write about all the other feelings I have for you.

Expect another letter soon.

Your problem and your solution,
Me

P.S. I still think an overpaid, overrated, overly handsome best-selling author of thrillers has no business teaching creative writing at a prestigious New York university.

P.P.S. To my great horror, I really wanted you to push me up against that door and kiss my angry face too. I understand now that your appalling way of treating me in class has been overcompensation, but I don’t forgive you for it. I’ll kiss you again anyway. One day.

*This multicast audiobook is mostly dual narration with portions that are duet-style.*

Love, love, love it!!

Fiona and Emmett. Both authors. Both having writers block. Both at the same diner. When they meet, it's like magic for a night. But when Fiona walks into her classroom and sees who her professor is, we know there is going to a problem. Another Kayley Loring original has me laughing, crying and loving every minute of this amazing story. Fiona is such a feisty woman. She may be a little younger than Emmett, but she is not afraid to express what she wants. Emmett is fun to watch as he transforms in this book. From sullen to happy, it's a joy to hear. But I have to say, what I love most about this book is the way it's written. Books within the book with outspoken characters, love letters to heat you up and melt your heart, tropes like teacher student and age gap all had my interest captured. This is probably my favorite of her books so far, and I have loved every one! It's a phenomenal listen and should be a one click for all those that love a wonderful romantic comedy.

Now for the narration. I think Loring had each one of these voices in her mind when she wrote the book because a better cast could not have been found. Each one fits the personality of the character perfectly and adds that something extra that audio brings to our ears. The movie in our minds! It's a pleasure to listen to and I have to mention, Connor Crais as Goliath just had me in stitches. Kudos to this amazing team Loring put together!

Good but not my favorite

This is good but not my favorite by this author. At tines it seemed predictable. I did enjoy Emmet and Fiona. The narration was good but I felt the “chapters from their books” was distracting and unnecessary. It seemed to take away from the flow of the story.

Pure Gold!

Kayley Loring is without a doubt one of my favorite authors, and this book proves why! This story was steamy, hilarious, angsty, romantic and everything in between! Loring took a “hot for teacher,” forbidden romance with an age gap story and made it one I couldn’t put down. Sorry, children of mine...mama was busy!!!! Also, the narration was spectacular! Some of my favorites all coming together in one book...and OH MY GRACIOUS, TEDDY HAMILTON...I’m a huge fan...but you simply outdid yourself with this one...I loved that I could hear your underlying amusement in so many parts of this book...possibly your best work yet...I was enthralled. Worth a credit/listen? Good Lord, yes!!! Enjoy 🙌 Five stars all around!!!

I just expected more...

There were moments in the book that I felt it was super dramatic for me
And there were many moments when I laughed and enjoyed the writing.
I admit, I didn't had my mind blown, it didn't change anything for me, I didn't felt that this book was different from the other books I've read (there were quite a few familiar and well-known patterns that appeared in this book;
*I don't know if it's considered a spoiler, but those who prefer not to know will skip until the next break*
Tropes such as: student and teacher, the familiar drama of forbidden relationships, someone finds out and threatens, etc, etc...)

I liked the h's relationship with her mother, I liked the H's relationship with his niece.
I loved the solution, I hated the "before" period (those who read understand what I mean).

In short, a lovable, nice book.
All in all, I currently think it deserves a rating of 3.75 🌟
If you want to read a light, seggy, entertaining book - not a remake but also not terrible - then this is the book for you.
I hope others will enjoy it more than me ❤️

PS: The last episode was ridiculously funny 😂😂😂
I didn't understand where this point of view fell on me, but it really broke me 😂

Where have you been all my life Kayley Loring?!

Some stories you want to read, you want to devour the words yourself and others you want to listen to and hear the voices of the characters you know you are going to love. Then there are the ones you can do either one because you know no matter what that this story is going to stay with you for a long time, The Love Interest was one of those stories.

I listened to this book because the cast for the narration was spectacular and I knew having all four of them together would be magic, and it was. While Teddy Hamilton and Mackenzie Cartwright were outstanding through the whole book it was Connor Crais & Shane East who stole the show for me, specifically Connor Crais. I've never read or listened to a story like this, but Shane & Connor performed their parts. Their parts were brief, but boy did they make an impact. Connor doing Jack Irons and the that third epilogue just tied the story together in such an expected way. I couldn't help but love this narration.

Fiona was vivacious and feisty from the very start. Seeing her character grow so much from the grad student to the woman she became was kind of mind boggling to me. You don't expect to see a character grow like that in such a short amount of time, but it was everything that this story needed.

Gah, Emmett!! He broke my heart from the very first page and from that point on I was a goner for him. Finding love once is unimaginable to some but for him to find it again after such a long time was achingly beautiful. This woman comes out of nowhere and makes him rethink everything he has been doing the last few years of his life. She makes him want to start living again and she does. Their age difference played such a huge part of this story in seeing the way that they interacted and how she made him come alive again.

This was my first Kayley Loring book and I have no idea how! The steam was *chefs kiss*, the chemistry was perfection, and the bittersweet moments gave my heart all the gooey feels. Looking forward to seeing what else she has coming our way in 2022.

Holy what the WHAT?!

Seriously one of the best books I have listened to so far this year! I am almost afraid to read it, because the Narrators were that freaking awesome!!! Seriously!! I was busting up laughing! Teddy Hamilton has quickly become one of my favorite narrators..If I could give the narrators more than a 5 star I totally would!! they were ALL Fantastic.

okay now onto the story line. The flow if the story is awesome, it grabs you instantly. Fiona's easy nature opens up a grumpy bitter man that is Emmett. I love how the characters understand one another, with their easy conversations and quick banter..

This is for sure worth a credit, and this will definitely be getting many many repeat listens.

I Tried

So the performance was great. The story, for me, was 20 chapters too long. I really wanted to like it but I couldn’t connect and especially hated having to hear the story inside the story. This one just wasn’t for me.

Loved this!

Loving this, especially how the characters talk back to their authors 🤣 Ooh, 10 year age gap. Really enjoyed this taboo romance with it's wit and humor ❤

Decent Story

I like the story but I not sure that I would have if Emmet's story wasn't in there. His is the feel good part to it. Losing the love of his life to finally finding the one person that made him feel alive again after a decade. They had instant chemistry. I do feel like her story was missing something to it. I am still on the fence about the how the author incorporated the characters book writing into the story as kind of the daydream sequence, also the 3 epilogues were a bit much. Wow kind of sounds like I didn't like the book much, that's not the case just certain aspects of it I didn't care for. There were plenty of laughable moments as well as steamy and sweet. The 4ft Rooster's epilogue was a definite no for me.
