Publisher's summary

The Swarm is coming!

This time, enemy science vessels study us as Hive Masters gather hundreds of thousands of starships for an avalanche invasion.

Instead of facing massed bug fleets in hopeless battle, we have a desperate plan: use a Builder nexus, create a hyper-spatial tube and send suicide-ships thousands of light-years into Swarm territory. There, our ships must find and destroy the nexuses that are the only way back home, all in order to stop the bugs from using the nexuses to reach Human Space.

Despite the grim mission, Captain Maddox is determined to bring his people back. But deep in the Sagittarius Spiral Arm, disaster strikes. All alone in the stellar night, the crew must face a primordial alien that even the Builders feared and the Swarm avoids.

Now begins a deadly battle as Maddox, the crew and Galyan are pitted against a horror of legendary evil as a Swarm battle fleet waits to annihilate the victor.

Still good, but overly convoluted and ridiculous

Aparently I need to write fifteen unique words even though my title summarizes it perfectly.

too much from the narrator

this story while good was told mostly by the narrator and not through the characters as the other's had. I felt like the narrator dragged me through the story instead of the characters pushing me to here what happens next.

Disappointed

This book is convoluted, causing it to be confusing, in my opinion! Plus I don't like the backstabbing and intrigue that is pervasive in this book! Additionally, I am tired of Mattox's belligerent attitude, and lack of forethought. The author consistently causes him to get into situations with no apparent escape, and then he escapes!

Maybe I am tired of this series, it just goes on and on! I must prefer a trilogy!

Very good but not great.

I love the series and will continue to listen to them. I hope the storyline gets more interesting though. Luckily there is a great narrator.
