Extraordinary history of perseverance, dedication and endurance. Very inspiring about a man whose grave I visited in South Ge.

Having spent six glorious days on Antarctica, spoiled by the good weather and mingling with the penguins and sea lions, I was overwhelmed by the hardships explorers endured on their expeditions in the severest of conditions. God bless them and may they rest in peace.

The other side of the famous failed expedition

This book is a good and worthwhile listen as it provides the completion of the Shackleton story. In this book, I found heroes and frustration. But as this is abridged, I think I missed out on much that would have connected me to the men this book is about.

Bottom line: As information, this is great. As a story, this lacks some character development.

Just OK

I have listened to a few books on the Antartic travel, and the ones that stand out include lots of bits, pieces and personal insights from the dairies of the men who did the travels. This book, albeit an intresting piece of history and endurance (no pun intended), just kinda plods along. This book focus's on Shackleton's adventure, but lacks a good deal of his views and comments. Oh humm.

The Ice.

Of all the great stories of man’s adventures in the Golden Age” this is one stands out. Having been privileged to work and stand in these historical places I found this story truly inspiring. Well written. Well presented. Thanks.

Exciting at the end

The narrator has a perfect voice and tone. Pull up a map of the voyage as there are lots of degrees south and location references that cause one to glaze over without. The latter quarter of the story is the best part.
