A sweet opposites attract 🤩💜

Win and Eliot's story was a sweet hurt/comfort romance.

They are both real and relatable characters. I liked the dynamics of their relationship and seeing them evolve from friends to lovers was simply transcendent.

The premise of the story caught my attention and the storyline was engaging and well executed.

The narrator is new to me and I quite liked his audio delivery and narration.

I definitely recommend this one if you are looking for a hurt/comfort, emotional romance.

LOVED

The List is the first in a new series by Felice Stevens. I can tell I am already a huge fan of the Second Chances series.
Win and Elliott have won my heart right from the start. Felice has the magic touch of creating characters that the reader immediately connects with. I ached for what Win has gone through in his past and loved seeing him open himself up to possibilities. Elliott is so used to being who he thinks the other person wants he forgets how wonderful his true self is. Watching his self discovery happen is amazing.
I love a book I can emotionally connect with and The List gives that and so much more.
Denis Lambert knocks it out of the park narrating this lovely story!
I can't wait for the next book in this series!!!

Sweet and Enjoyable

This was a really enjoyable listen. I liked watching Win and Eliot meet and then find themselves growing into an unexpected relationship. I found myself cheering on hopeful Eliot and grieving Win. If you're in the mood for a sweet love story where there is an actual relationship developing and not instalove, this is an audiobook you will enjoy. The narrator was new-to-me but did well and is someone I'll listen to again.

Looking Forward to More

So Denis Lambert is a new to me narrator and I googled him and found all his wonderful acting work. I hope he continues to do more audiobooks because I loved the voices he gave to this group of friends.

As far as the book itself Felice always writes characters that charm and gut you. Sometimes you want to smash them over the head in frustration too, but you are always rooting for the HEA she brings.
I will say that the side characters really grabbed my attention in this story so I can’t wait for more of Wolfey, Spencer, Chess and Andre.

Great story made mediocre by narrator.

Loved the story, but almost stopped listening because of the awful narration. I thought it lacked emotion where it should have been and his voice was somewhat monotonous in parts. Hoping that another narrator is found for the rest of the series.

Absolutely Love It!

I love everything about this book: the writing style, character development, realistic storyline, and depth of characters. A truly interesting book I could not tear myself away from. I'm always leery of new narrators, but Denis did a lovely job of telling this story. Ready to dive right into Footsteps of the Past! Highly recommend!

Well written and romantic

Enjoyed this story from start to finish. Very relatable. Narration was a bit stilted in the beginning but after the narrator got comfortable with the characters he did a good job. Want to listen to more in this series.

Tender and Compelling

Audio/Narrator: Mr. Denis Lambert.

This was my first time listening to a book read by Mr. Lambert, and I must say what a treat it was! His voice was soothing and pleasurable as he switched back and forth from the characters with such ease. I especially loved the voices of Elliot's best friends, Wolf and Spencer. Elliot was just as I had imagined he would sound like. Timid and unsure at times, yet able to summon great strength when it was needed. Win's voice was the perfect accompaniment to Elliot. The Narrators interpretation of the couple was spot on. The intimate scenes were part smoldering and tender. His soothing voice kept a perfect pace and I never lost interest or my place in the story. Bravo, Mr. Lambert, you did absolute justice to Felice's book! I loved forward to your next release with this series!
> Story - line: Another wondrously crafted and heartfelt novel from my go-to author, Felice. I really love the many facets this book contains. At first, I was drawn to a sweet, yet compelling character named Elliot. He almost has an innocence that surrounds him like an aura. He is far too trusting, and always falls rather quickly for the wrong men. His friends from college, who have become his greatest supporters, have almost a smothering effect on him. They mean well but treat Elliot like a child that can’t make his own decisions. Elliot’s needs seem to be discarded for what they perceive is best for him. Elliot’s very challenging relationship with his family explains much of his insecurities, and desperate need for acceptance. Elliot is not only sweet, he has a spirit that is as bright as a diamond. He is much more complex than most people realize.
> Win is new to Elliot’s neighborhood and happens to be a detective. Stopping an intruder from breaking into Elliot’s home is definitely a new way to meet the next-door neighbor. Win has completely shut down after the death of his beloved husband five years ago. His life consists of just work, and those that love him are truly concerned. He has tried a little dating, but between guilt and lack of interest, it has not gone anywhere.
> Elliot lights a spark in him, he thought was long dead and forever extinguished. They both try a no-strings scenario. Win, because he can never imagine having real love again, and Elliot’s friends have made him believe it is wrong to seek love. Well, we all know this no-strings arrangement won’t last long. The men’s chemistry was scorching and dear Elliot is full of surprises.
> Trusting in someone new and especially believing in yourself is near impossible for both men. Hopefully with luck, and an adorable list with the attributes for the ideal man for Elliot, the improbable just might become reality. As for the list, I will let you enjoy that little snippet yourself. Cannot wait for the next in the series both to read and listen to!

Great Story and Great Narration

Felice Stevens has another hit on her hands with ”The List”. I really enjoyed this first book in her new series Second Chances. In “The List” she does some great world building to set the stage for upcoming books, and she introduces us to an interesting cast of characters who have been best friends since college.

Book one features Elliot, who has been unlucky in love, and Win who is merely existing since the loss of his husband. Elliot is sweet and vulnerable and I liked him from the start. He just wants to find happiness and settle down with someone who makes him a priority. Win isn’t looking for a relationship after suffering a devastating loss. My heart hurt for Win, who seemed adrift and was going through the motions instead of living a life.

I like that Elliot and Win start off as friends who slowly build up to more. Neither of these guys was in a place to rush into anything, and their relationship felt organic and real to me. Felice Stevens always does a wonderful job creating real characters who seem like everyday people.

I can’t wait to read the next stories in this series. I’m already intrigued by book 2, which features an already established couple.

Denis Lambert did a very good job with the narration of this book. He gave different voices to each character and infused emotion into the dialogue as well as the inner monologue. I read the ebook before listening to the audiobook and Denis fits the characters just as I had envisioned them.

healing and growth

I feel the secret baggage Eli and Win each had helped make their bond together stronger after each was revealed and their pain was shared. I empathized with the rocky road each traveled in their journey. I admired Eli standing up for a mom that withheld her love, because I don't think I could have in his place. Hearing the epilogue brought tears to my eyes- happy and sad. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did an excellent job bringing the characters and story to life.

Love it!

The List is the first book is this new series Second Chances, Felice did a great job writing this book! This kind of stories is why she is one of my favorites authors! Their characters always will find their HEA but first we have to watching them become friends and then lovers, you will definitely cry, laugh and find happiness...this book will make you feel so many emotions!

The List is Elliot and Winston story, Elliot is the guy who wants to find someone to love and be loved, he is the instant fall in love and then taken advantage of him, he has his heart broken to many times! So their friends suggested that he need to make a list of Elliot’s perfect man.

Winston is a detective who is still mourning the death of his husband, he doesn’t want to love again but an inusual arrest brings Winston into is neighbor bedroom! Even into his grief he knows that Elliot is special and makes him feel something he thought he lost years ago. I love that they connected immediately but for different reasons they decided to start a friends with benefits relationship, just enjoy each other with no strings attached... sorry but that would never works! Lol...they try to stay just friends but soon that is a lost battle, they were perfect together. They bring each other’s happiness and the support that both need, I love watching them together. their story was hilarious, entertaining and super steamy! Denis Lambert did a great job narrating this book, I love his voice and he really bring to life this amazing characters! I highly recommended this audiobook!

Enjoyable story and solid narration

Elliot Hansen has an unfortunate habit of falling in love with pretty much every man he dates while his next-door neighbour, Detective Win Rogers isn't interested in love and hasn't been since his husband died five years earlier. Bonus points for the unusual meet-cute - Win arrests a burglar in Elliot's bedroom! - and after the grumpy cop insists on taking Elliot to buy a new window-lock (and then on fitting it) the next day, they start to spend time together and get to know each other.

When, after a while, Elliot tells Win about his disastrous history with relationships, Win sees a way they can help each other. Win isn’t looking for love, but he does want companionship – and (hopefully) sex with someone he likes – something with no strings to help him adjust to life as a single man, while Elliot needs to learn how to have fun and be with someone without instantly thinking they’re ‘the one’.

The romance that ensues is lovely, full of genuine affection and tenderness as these two men find themselves falling in love, no matter how much they’ve told themselves they don’t want it (Win) or shouldn’t be looking for it (Elliot). They're well-written, engaging characters although I did find Elliot's naivéte somewhat irritating to begin with, and I was annoyed that Win kept a very important piece of information from Elliot.

There's a strong scondary cast and the narration from newcomer (to audiobooks at least) Denis Lambert is pretty decent. His portrayal of the two leads fits their characters well and his performance is nicely emotionally nuanced - although his female voices need work. His phrasing is a bit of in some places and sometimes some of the characters are difficult to tell apart by ear. But on the whole, it's a good performance, and I'm looking forward to the next in the series

Brilliant

Absolutely loved the book was so glad to get the audio.
Love Win and Elliot story . Denis Lambert narrated it so well , with all the emotions. Elliot wanting to be loved , and Win holding back as he thought he had the one true love but lost it.
Highly recommend gives the characters in the book a voice which matches their personality
