Publisher's summary

Eighteen-year-old Peyton Hamilton is a typical Midwest girl - until the Shadow helps her escape the most gruesome murder that the small town of Jenks, Oklahoma, has ever seen.

Soon after, she returns home only to find the rest of her family dead.

Haunted by the Shadow ever since, Peyton is not the only one this supernatural being has chosen - and now, no one is safe from its wrath. Escaping to live with her only living relative, Peyton discovers that they both have dark secrets that cannot remain buried.

Secrets which fuel the Shadow's vengeance.

In the end, can Peyton prevent any more bloodshed, or is there no stopping this supernatural nightmare?

Different twists than I was expecting...

It felt like a mystery in the beginning, but then the story changed into something else. The Shadow kept me on edge, and I listened to the entire book in one day. It was scary at times, but it was also filled with some romance, and I really loved the flawed characters. Be prepared for everyone to have some secrets, and the ending took me by surprise as well.

Grizzly Tale

Jackson Baer is a creative writer who gives his all in his tales. The Lights Will Never Fade is a haunting tale of horror. From the start, my heart was pounding with fear and I was riveted to Peyton’s story.

The Lights Will Never Fade is a twisted suspense of the horrors experienced by Peyton, Charity, and a few others. The Shadow is a creepy spectre is the antagonist that left me in chills. Some insight into The Shadow’s backstory would have given the book more depth.

I don’t usual choose to read horror because it gives me nightmares, but I did enjoy Mr. Baer’s writing. My audiobook experience was hampered by the flat narration.

Beautifully dark and twisted

Jackson Baer never fails to impress me with his stories, The Lights Will Never fade doesn't dissappoint. From the well thought out characters to the winding twisting storyline the story of Peyton, Charity, and a host of other characters leads you on a terribly twisted road to an incredible and unbelievable ending that you won't see coming. I love how well thought out Jackson's storyline is, he really has put some awesome thought into this book, I love the characters and the twists with the characters that I was like wait....what? NO WAY! I highly recommend this book to everyone, I absolutely love the characters.

Full of suspense

Great characters and full of suspense. This story has so many plot twists it will keep you on the edge of your seat. The story itself deserves a 5 star rating, however, with the narration I can only give it a 4 star for the audio. The narration needed to have more infliction and emotion into the character voices. It wasn't a dead-pan narration, yet there was barely any emotion shown even when Peyton found her family murdered.

Narrator was all wrong for this particular book.

This book was interesting but I had a really hard time with the narration. Some men can carry off doing a female voice but this one, no, he has a wonderful voice for the right style of book, this wasn’t it and it really messed with the enjoyment of this story.

As far as the story goes...I still don’t know who or how the shadow came to be. That part must have been deleted by the editor! Grrr. Or, may have missed that part during the many times my mind wandered while thinking how wrong this narrator was for this style of book.

It would have been nice to find out what happened to the participants from the year before that started the entire process for Payton on the Oklahoma side of things. That’s a hole in the story.

Good story

I liked the story... this narration is what causes me issues. I find it hard to get past it.
But it’s probably just me.
