Wonderful High School Read - *Trigger Warnings*

Parents- PG13- good for high school to adults - *trigger warning* that this book deals with trauma, PTSD from war and a very abusive alcoholic father and emotional abuse
Language- PG- minimal to nonexistent
Violence- PG13- nothing too graphic - *flashbacks to violent beatings of children and mother and *war PTSD
Sexual Content- PG13 Kissing, clean romance, living together, safe sex talk, and *semi-graphic flashbacks of molestation & rape

This book is probably better for older high school to adult readers. It's a very dramatic coming of age story about Pen and her sister and brother.... things that had been protected come out and there's so much dealing with different forms of flashbacks and PTSD that this could be a very hard read for someone who has been through their own trauma. I did love how this all unraveled, and though it was hard to get through in the different abuse scenes. I love how good family relationships were encouraged; and importance of the loads of patience that is needed to be the support for someone healing from trauma. It's a very emotional rollercoaster with a lot of heartache, healing, and some fun twists. The overall message of this series continues the theme of friendship, family, and forgiveness. I do recommend this one.

Narrator- did a great job with the differentiations between the characters and was simply fun to listen to.

Best one yet

As I've read/listened to more and more from this author I'm seeing the writing getting better and better, While I have enjoyed all of them and they are all well written I really loved this one. I'm not sure if it's because the group was older than the high school crowds from the previous or that this particular story was full of unexpected surprises and wasn't all life is wonderful and perfect yet still remained a light and lovely story. Narration was done well and really did a good job with this cast of characters.
