Publisher's summary

In a future when humans are believed to be extinct, what will one curious robot do when it finds a girl who needs its help?

In the future, robots have eliminated humans, and 12-year-old robot XR_935 is just fine with that. Without humans around, there is no war, no pollution, no crime. Every member of society has a purpose. Everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Until the day XR discovers something impossible: a human girl named Emma.

Now, Emma must embark on a dangerous voyage with XR and two other robots in search of a mysterious point on a map. But how will they survive in a place where rules are never broken and humans aren't supposed to exist? And what will they find at the end of their journey?

Humorous, action-packed, and poignant, The Last Human tells a story about friendship, technology, and challenging the status quo no matter the consequences. It's not just about what it means to be a robot - it's about what it means to be a friend.

WOW!!! Wonderful story, perfectly narrated!

This is only my 2nd audio book finished (I'm a massive lifetime reader, but new to audio). My first was this author's Amazon Original of "Interview With A Robot," and I loved that one, which was a full production with multiple voices and some sound effects, immediately. I've started two others by other authors, but they haven't grabbed me yet (I'm still continuing with them). This book has just the one narrator and no sound effects, and at first I didn't think it would be as good as "Interview," but I actually ended up enjoying this even more. This was an absolutely MARVELOUS story (huge kudos and thank you to the author) with exactly the right narrator who did a fantastic job! Although the two main characters are 12 years old and there is some "younger readers" content, it was also full of thoughtful explorations of the good and bad of humanity while being full of rapid-paced action and many thrills! The author and narrator made me care deeply about his characters, figuratively biting my nails as they faced dangers. This 61 year old LOVED the story, and I HIGHLY recommend it!

Good book

After listening to Interview with a Robot, I went looking for more from this author. This story has a cultural depth and builds steadily, drawing you in. Probably in terms of literature, it is better than Interview with a Robot--but just not quite as much fun. Like all good writing, this book has layers of message. In these difficult political times, it is very apt. Don't miss this author.

Could be a fantastic movie

Loved the character development and story. Has it all. Adventure, suspense, humor, love, empathy, moral.

The “slash” writing is very unfortunate and nearly ruined this book for me but loved everything else so grit my teeth.

Adored the voice of xeron or ciron.

Skd was cute and xr and xeron so funny together.

Wonderful.

Truly would be a great movie, cross between terminator and somewhere over the rainbow.

Excellent- not just for kids!

This charming story starts a little slow. Then, as the plot unfolds with surprising depth, you realize you are listening to a real gem.

Monotonous

I get the voice actor was voicing robots but the reading was so boring I gave up after an hour. The story itself was interesting, but I couldn't take the monotonous tone.

Great Book!

I like that the book is from the robots head and how it thinks is very good!

Pretty good, but fairly illogical

look... it might have been part of the story, so perhaps an unfair gripe... partial spoilers...
.
.

but the slashes weren't used well, the main bot was illogical and logical often... called out processor a brain and processor... plus many robots showed anger or desire for punishment, which threw me off.
could've been partially fixed by saying the main bot is an upgraded version that processes with an AI for adapting capabilities, which would explain a few things... plus bots only setup solar power? water power can be easy to get... geothermal too...
pretty good on the story, but the robots were just more human, and being more scifi real would've been nice.
