In a future when humans are believed to be extinct, what will one curious robot do when it finds a girl who needs its help?

In the future, robots have eliminated humans, and 12-year-old robot XR_935 is just fine with that. Without humans around, there is no war, no pollution, no crime. Every member of society has a purpose. Everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Until the day XR discovers something impossible: a human girl named Emma.

Now, Emma must embark on a dangerous voyage with XR and two other robots in search of a mysterious point on a map. But how will they survive in a place where rules are never broken and humans aren't supposed to exist? And what will they find at the end of their journey?

Humorous, action-packed, and poignant, The Last Human tells a story about friendship, technology, and challenging the status quo no matter the consequences. It's not just about what it means to be a robot - it's about what it means to be a friend.

What I found strangely good about the book was that I related to one of the main characters, that is XR (a robot.) I feel like XR's personality fits mine very closely, and seeing his flaws made me think about my own. I also loved XR's tranformation throughout the story, how he becomes more human as the story goes on.
Though I relate to XR the most, I think Ceeron is my favourite character. He's funny and is willing to put others first before himself.

I also loved how the book was narrated by XR in 1st person, as if we're the robot entering this new world for the first time, learn how it works, but then must question what we've been told, and change throughout the story.

I thought it was interesting that the subject of God and religion wasn't brought up, but I can imagine trying to get that theme in would mess with the flow of the story. I just think that, with the theme of purpose, it would fit well, because questions like, "where do we humans get our purpose? Is it God that gives our life purpose, or do we simply create our own?" I just think that would've been an interesting theme to touch on. But this is a childrens book, so maybe that might be a bit too deep of a theme.

Such a good story!

Pace was good. Interesting story but no real hook. I'm saying that it is an entertaining book and story but not a book club level book.

Good but not Great

This is a novel for young people. It is interesting enough for adults as well. The narrator did a great job with the various voices. Lee Bacon did a wonderful job at simplifying a complicated concept and I look forward to reading the sequel. My favorite part was at the beginning when a "new born" robot mistakens his parent's outstretched arms as a hug and attempts to hug that parent, only to realize that the parental unit was unplugging his charger. And so begins the extraordinary tale of the Last Human. Recommended especially for those young people who enjoy computers, AI, drones, science, and adventure. I'm 74 and a grandma who enjoys all of those things, too.

Great story

Loved the character development and story. Has it all. Adventure, suspense, humor, love, empathy, moral.

The “slash” writing is very unfortunate and nearly ruined this book for me but loved everything else so grit my teeth.

Adored the voice of xeron or ciron.

Skd was cute and xr and xeron so funny together.

Wonderful.

Truly would be a great movie, cross between terminator and somewhere over the rainbow.

Could be a fantastic movie
