Wonderfully entertaining new mystery series.

Definitely worth a credit, This novel checked all the boxes for me, with an interesting premise and a lot of humor that doesn't get in the way of developing characters with depth. The narrator was masterful; not just with creating varied voices, but also in handling the pacing and timing needed for the many humorous exchanges. I'm now reading the second detective Miller novel and am hoping that the talented Mark Billingham is planning to write many more.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Last Dance and being able to delight in the dialog, the narrator and the laugh-out loud funny observations of protagonist Miller. I look forward to book #2 in this new, refreshing series.

What a start of a new series for Mark Billingham! I loved it. The narration was as low-key as Miller himself. Excellent all around.
