Interesting

This is a unique view of survival at any cost and that humanity continues to be chartible to other creatures of this world.

A Good Listen

This book is a great start to the series. If you are into the zombie genre you will not be disappointed, there are great characters and an awesome smooth flowing story. I have read a couple of Tony's other books on kindle and he is an amazing writer. And of coarse Matthew Crow will not disappoint with his reading. I received this audiobook for free and this is my voluntary unbiased review.

This audio book was fantastic! It was very realistic and not sunshine and rainbows like some post apocalyptic books. Story line was great, along with the characters. Narrator did a wonderful too!

Very GOOD listen

This book breaks the boring mold of most post apocalyptic stories.

The characters are developed will relish to seem like real people.

I cannot wait for the next episode.

As always Matthew Crow brings this story to LIFE!

Strong start

I would definitely recommend this to any dystopian and apocalypse genre lovers. The character are really well developed and the two brothers are really strong characters that come into their own as the story progresses. Their male role model, Trooper, was a great example of a survivor, teaching and guiding them. The mother, is such a great character and at one point made me laugh out loud when she is talking to her son about a kiss she gave to someone. The Cannibals are scary because they come out the dark and are brutal! Love all the characters and the adventure! Cant wait to read the second book.

Must read for zombie reader fanatics!

I've been through so many books in this genre it's getting pretty hard to find ones that really hold my attention these days. I'll keep it short and sweet.. Great story, top notch narration and even though it's not super long it's definitely worth a credit if you go through zombie/post apocalyptic books like I do! In fact I save my credits for longer more expensive books and just pay for these type.. If you have all the Amazon subscriptions it's makes it the best way to go about it. Get the book version free most often, then add narration a greatly discounted price. 😉

Intense & Thrilling!

The Land Darkened is a fantastic start to the Cannibal Country Series, a well-written and entirely engaging, post-apocalyptic thriller. The premise follows a family traversing the nuclear-devastated land, searching for a safe sanctuary. At the start, a terrible event sets a dark tone to the story, and it continues through the end. The storyline is action-packed, gory, intense, exciting, and even heart-wrenching. The threat of cannibals was by far the most chilling part. You are aware of their presence. You do your best to brace for the anticipated encounter. Even so, no matter how well you braced, it's not enough.

The characters were well-developed, diverse, definitely authentic with distinct roles and personalities. My personal favorites were Supper, the three-legged mutt, Trooper, the family's protector, and Wyatt. Wyatt is ordinary and not the traditional hero; in the beginning, he was uncertain and lacked survival instincts. However, he learns from mistakes, growing brave, overcoming fears, and stepped up to the plate. The ending was great, especially the twist, and I can't wait for the second book.

Matthew Crow's performance was spot-on, modifying his voice to fit the various characters' personalities, ages, and gender, making them distinguishable while bringing realism. Both authors and narrator did a brilliant job, and I highly recommend this audiobook.
