Publisher's summary

When a tentacle emerges from the mist covering the lake and chokes the last dying breath from the Johnson's beagle Petey, things start to go strangely wrong in the quaint little town of Haven. At first, no one notices when Jonathan Robinson disappears. However, when Anne Smith's mother, Laura, realizes that something is horribly wrong with her, she begins to raise questions that need answering.

Find out in The Lake. What lies deep within it is more sinister than you could ever have imagined.

The storyline that keeps you on your toes!

The story truly captivates your mind. It takes you to a world with the intimate threat of a unknown creature lurking in the water and it has quite the hold on the daughter.

This is where mother must fight to the bitter end to try and save her daughter from a creature that has a death hold.

Will she be saved in time? You are sitting on the edge of the seat waiting to find out.

The story is captivating. The narrator adds to the effect as it helps take you to the world of the story.

Overall great story! I didn’t pick up anything too repetitive.

What lies in the Lake?

What would you do to save the one you love? This book follows the story of Laura Smith and her young daughter, Anne, who live close to a lake in the town of Haven. When Anne starts to experience strange things, such as seeing something under her bed and the appearance of a weird slimy substance on the floor, Laura begins to wonder what is truly happening. She soon learns that people have been vanishing from Haven for years.

Laura is determined to get to the cause of Anne's behavior at any cost. Leaving Haven doesn't seem to work and in fact makes Anne's symptoms worse. Laura begins to see things herself and when she encounters the creature causing all the problems, she fears that she will have to be the one to save Anne (and hopefully others).

The story moves at a fast pace, with plenty of creepy happenings, a few helpful citizens and at least one villain who seems to be perpetuating the horrors. I would have liked to know more of the history of this entity and how the whole thing started, but all in all, it was a quick, spooky read with a few heartbreaking moments along the way. The narrator did a great job and added a lot to the experience.

Sacrifice

Would you sacrifice anything for the one you love? Single mother Laura will do anything to save the most precious thing to her Annie, her daughter. Time is not on her side when something or someone sets their sights on the children of Haven. The town of Haven and the lake within hold a deadly secret, but Laura is determined to find out what it is and put an end to it once and for all. I found this storyline to be unique, engrossing, and full of suspense. The story is very well written. I was hooked from chapter one. The characters are quirky, well developed, and believable. I highly recommend this book if you love horror and suspense. I received this book for free upon my request. I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased review here of my own free upon.

The beginning

The book started a very crazy in the beginning, I really did not like the readers voice on this book, it sounded really robotic a little bit, but other than that this was a good book

A bit of the paranormal for you to digest

It was a good paranormal/spooky story, for all ages. The narrator was a bit staccato but still enjoyable enough to listen to.

Top notch cosmic horror …

This one got my attention right away and kept me looking forward to what would happen next. There were several twists and turns that were introduced at just the right times to keep me engaged and wanting more. There was just the right amount of character development so I really felt for the characters. There were some bad guys too. All in all it was a fast paced, interesting read that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys horror. A must read for cosmic horror fans. This book is good for everyone as there are no real trigger warnings.
