Publisher's summary

Five deliciously hot heroes.

Five heroines whose hearts are swept away.

Five love stories you won’t be able to resist.

Our heroines’ lives are turned upside down as they face adventure, danger, and passion in these thrilling historical romance novels. Follow Rosamund, Flora, Ursula, Bathsheba, and Cornelia as each falls madly in love just when they least expect it!

The Lady's Guide to Love features the first five volumes from The Lady's Guide series in one convenient bundle.

Book one: The Lady's Guide to Scandal

With her name mired in scandal, Cornelia Mortmain's marriage prospects are nil.

Wild adventurer Burnell is exactly the sort of "dangerous man" she's sworn off.

Posing as his fiancée can only spell trouble or make her so notorious she'll become irresistible.

Can they convince everyone they're madly in love?

The game is on!

Book two: The Lady's Guide to Deception and Desire

With limited funds and a long way from Texas, Rosamund must pretend she's a wealthy catch.

Meeting the Duke of Studborne, have her prayers been answered?

Perhaps...but what of the mysterious disappearances at Studborne Abbey?

If she is to uncover the truth, only one person can help her....

The duke's annoyingly principled, far-too-honorable nephew.

Book three: The Lady’s Guide to Escaping Cannibals

Lady Bathsheba lands on the tropical island of Vanuaka in search of her missing brother.

Under the protection of darkly handsome Captain de Silva, she soon learns he's not all he seems.

And Bathsheba is in more danger than she can imagine....

Book four: The Lady's Guide to Mistletoe and Mayhem

Ursula must hide from her dastardly guardian until her inheritance unlocks on her 25th birthday. Taking on the identity of an etiquette teacher, she heads to a Scottish castle to whip her "young charge" into shape—but horse-riding, cow-lassoing, Stetson-wearing Rye is a whole lot more than she's bargained for.

Thrown in at the deep-end as the long-lost heir to Castle Dunrannoch, Rye, has five potential brides to choose from, but with a murderer on the loose and an ancient Scottish curse to navigate, will he ever make it down the aisle?

Book five: The Lady's Guide to a Highlander's Heart

A fearsome warrior hiding a dark secret. A runaway bride in disguise.

Is Lady Flora's battle-hardened Highlander bridegroom her father's killer?

Flora never expects passion to burn as fiercely as her desire for revenge, but she soon discovers her secret is only one of many within the castle.

Add this wonderful series to your library—and prepare to listen late into the night!

Guaranteed: intrigue, adventure, family secrets, unexpected twists, scorching bedroom scenes, and breathtaking romance.

Each story can be listened to individually and in any order.

Gorgeous romances

I had read two of these stories by Emanuelle de Maupassant before listening to the audiobook, and I have to say, the listening experience was such a pleasure. I was utterly swept away by the narration and sound effects. It was such an immersive experience. I also love Emmanuelle’s stories. It’s just the right mix of passion and intrigue with a happily ever after.

Excellent

I love how these stories took place in different places and how The Lady's Guide brought them together. The sound effects really brought the story to life. You will travel from the Highlands of Scotland to the jungle, the English seaside with a Gothic feel, an excavation in Mexico, London and back to the seaside. These rich tellings of the stories will keep you entertained and knowing love conquers all.

Adventures Abound

This was the first time reading, and listening to, a book by Emmanuelle de Maupassant. What I expected and what she delivered were not the same, but it turned into a pleasant surprise.

Action and adventure abound and sometimes come in the form of the macabre, lending a bit of an Indiana Jones feel to a couple of the books. Keeping with that are the occasional moments of hilarity and insanity.

Overall, I enjoyed the series and will likely partake of more of de Maupassant's work. My favorite of the collection is probably "The Lady's Guide to Escaping Cannibals".

I received an author's copy of the audio book, and I was able to sometimes read along on my copies of the books. The narrator is Gareth J Davies. It's my first book / series with him as narrator. I do love the accents, even if the pronunciation of 'Jorge' was off. 😍 There are sound effects throughout which are entertaining.

A good box set!

This was a good set of romance audiobooks by Emmanuelle de Maupassant. It is a different trope than my normal listen. The difference was refreshing. I definitely enjoyed each story in this set.

Gareth J. Davies is a good narrator. He does a good job with both male and female voices. Excellent performance.

Love the Guide series

Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2023
I don't know where my original review went, so this won't be very informative. But, I have loved all the "Guide" books that I have listened to or read! Emmanuelle de Maupassant writes wonderful books.

If you love books about great characters and love, you can't go wrong.

This is my honest review.

Truly engaging stories and great narration

I really loved listening to all of these stories.
Emmanuelle writes wonderful stories that keep you interested and entertained.
The narrators voice and the different sound effects, made for a great listening experience. I loved the different characters voices, especially the older men and woman.
All of these stories were engaging.

The Lady’s Guide to a Highlander’s Heart
Ragnall and Flora’s story Scotland 1166
This story definitely has all “the feels” from a hand fasting, death, fleeing for a better life, revenge, misunderstandings, betrayal, sexy bedroom scenes and an evil villain bent on abusing Flora physically. Was a great short story that had me invested from the beginning. Loved the characters.

Note - This is how the Lady’s Guide book starts.
Flora writes a volume which includes writings of all of her wisdom regarding being a lady, from marriage advice to recipes plus all sorts of advice for wives to learn from.
Each woman in Flora’s family add to the book as it is handed down through generations until it is placed into print with which even more woman have access to it.

The Lady’s Guide to Mistletoe and Mayhem
Rye and Ursula’s story
Another really enjoyable story centred around Castle Dunrannoch Scotland 1904
Upon travelling to visit a friend in Scotland Ursula instead ends up taking a post at Castle Dunrannoch in very strange circumstances.
Rye resides at the castle and has traveled from Texas to Scotland to start a new life on the wishes of his dying father.
From their first meeting their lives become entwined and over a very short time learn to respect, admire and love each other.
Great story and characters with another evil villain intent on disrupting and despatching of all the Viscounts in the castle.

The Lady’s Guide to Escaping Cannibals
Bathsheba and Jorge’s story
After her husband’s death Bathsheba sets out to meet up with her father and brother.
Her brother is missing and father has died so in desperation she hires Captain Jorge De Silva to take her to the last known place her brother was, Vanuaka Island.
I enjoyed listening to this audiobook and the adventure that they both set out on. One of lies, danger, escape and passion.
Another enjoyable Lady’s Guide tale.

The Lady’s Guide to Deception and Desire
Rosamund and Benedict’s story
An engaging story which had a dark, spooky feel about it but also funny at times with wonderfully written characters.
It centred around Rosamund - a disinherited debutante, The Duke of Studborne and his nephew Benedict.
On being invited to stay at the Duke’s home strange, dangerous things happen from disappearing women, death and scary secret passageways. Really great story.

The Lady’s Guide to Scandal
Cornelia and Ethan’s story
A continuation of the The Lady’s Guide to Deception and Desire, but years later introducing us to Rosamund’s younger brother Ethan and the widow Cornelia who has had much scandal around herself, not of her doing.
This story was also at times funny with wonderfully written characters another great story.

I received a copy of the audiobook for my honest review but had previously purchased all of the ebooks.

Love the Narrator

Loved Listening to the wonderful Narrator as he made the book so much more intriguing. Love books by this author as she seems too put just a little bit of magic into the story that makes it hard to stop reading until the end. I received a gift code for this book from the author for an honest review. I highly recommend this book and all other books written by this author.
