Idyllic Setting for Murder

The tenth book in the Christine Bennett Mystery series finds Chris, husband, Jack and baby son, Eddie taking a much-needed vacation on Fire Island in a cottage of a friend, a last-minute gift to be taken advantage of. Chris, the former nun turned teacher, out of her habit for the last three years and married for the last two, and her husband, a NY police officer, studying law at night looking forward to a relaxing time with their son, Eddie. And for the most part it was . . . until someone murdered the fire chief. The descriptions of the island (which I’d never heard of) were sumptuous, the relationships of the families on the island, especially the very old fire chief who lived there year-round and of course the murder mystery were excellent. This is one of the BEST series I’ve come across, for a lot of reasons. Its clean. Its different. And I never figure out who the killer is. BRAVO! One of the best in the series!
