Story
When Michael Moorcock began chronicling the adventures of the albino sorcerer Elric, last king of decadent Melniboné, and his sentient vampiric sword, Stormbringer, he set out to create a new kind of fantasy adventure, one that broke with tradition and reflected a more up-to-date sophistication of theme and style. The result was a bold and unique hero: a rock-and-roll antihero who would channel all the violent excesses of the '60s into one enduring archetype.

The original Dungeons & Dragons released by TSR (Tactical Studies Rules) in 1974 created a radical new medium: the role-playing game. For the next two decades, TSR rocketed to success. But by 1997, a series of ruinous choices and failed projects brought TSR to the edge of doom—only to be saved by their fiercest competitor, Wizards of the Coast. Unearthed from Ben Riggs’s own adventurous campaign of in-depth research, interviews with major players, and acquisitions of secret documents, Slaying the Dragon reveals the true story of the rise and fall of TSR.

Fire. Wind. Pestilence. Earthquake. Drought. Lightning. These are the six Decimates, wielded by sorcerers for both good and evil. But a seventh Decimate exists - the most devastating one of all. For centuries, the realms of Belleger and Amika have been at war, with sorcerers from both sides harnessing the Decimates to rain blood and pain upon their enemy. But, somehow, in some way, the Amikans have discovered and invoked a seventh Decimate, one that strips all lesser sorcery of its power.

This collection spans his entire career from his earliest surviving works of childhood to stories completed shortly before his death. Great adaptation....feels great to 'hear it'
Like many, I read most of Moorcock's books years ago (I can't wait for Elric's books to be available). I loved the Corum books, and really like this adaptation. It is more like a true audio production - than someone just reading it. In a way, I like the standard this sets - and really appreciate the overall feel of the way this book is presented.
The book was great.
This production - is a great way to re-"read" "hear" it! :)

I finally understand + Excellent performances!
I was always sci-fi not fantasy. By the time I finally read Tolkien through and through and now hungry for more fantasy in audio form. Moorcock I had always passed the title by. Recently after hearing of authors and directors inspired by Moorcock and hailed him as the progenitor of modern gothic fantasy (is that a genre or did I make it up after listening to chapter 5?!) I was intrigued. Now I understand. His imagery is amazing and the entire production here truly brings the images to life. I found myself acting out the description as it played. Flaying in the hands of giant disgusting beast of a god that is as horrifying as Smaug. What a joy the book was in this format. I look forward to hearing more producers. Excellent radio theater for great master I am excited to explore more of. Next please!! As I reach out my inhuman left hand....

nobody makes an audio drama like Graphic Audio, the voice acting was amazing and really brought the story to life in a way it wouldn't have from just a normal reading. The story itself was good and you won't be disappointed if you have enjoyed anything in the past Moorcock.

A good starting place for the Moorcock Multiverse
Thoroughly enjoyed this read/listen. The story itself unfolds at a pretty quick pace and gets into the action before you know it. Nanette did a fantastic job as the main narrator, while I also enjoyed Chris Genebach as Corum. As someone who has recently started reading Elric of Melniboné stories, I felt like this was a great contrast to Elric's character.
Much like Elric, Corum is the last of his race, blessed with powers from gods old and new. But unlike Elric, Corum laments the death of his race, who were goodly, learned folk. If you like the idea of a bit more of a sympathetic protagonist in the Moorcock-verse, I recommend checking this out!

not Moorcock's best nor well executed
The narrator speaks as if trying to pass an elocution lesson which is very wearing to begin with. the actors are better. but this isn't Moorcock's best book. probably need to be a Moorcock fan before you start.

Now make the film
Took a while to get used to the accents and somewhat dated sounding narration, but go with it, and listen to one of the greatest, epic stories to not, as yet hit the big screen. Great sound effects and interesting use of reverb for thought narrative.
Close your eyes, and enjoy a rich fantasy performance.
I would love to see someone make the film.

Story
Torn between worlds, without maps on the Moonbeam Roads, seeking forgotten memories and lost loves, Elric of Melniboné faces the strangest adventures of his bizarre and varied life. His relationships, his very bloodlines, reveal a still larger canvas, a narrative crowded with avatars of the Eternal Champion—von Bek, Hawkmoon, Corum, Captain Bastable, and others—coming together across the multiverse in a finale that makes the troubled albino a major player in the great War Amongst the Angels while rooting him thoroughly in our real world and history!
