Publisher's Summary

There might be no such thing as werewolves, vampires, or ghosts, but apparently evil dickhead Klowns are real.

Tempest Michaels is once again investigating ridiculous cases that are clearly not even slightly paranormal in nature, but his daily menu of fun is interrupted by a plague of men dressed in garish outfits with twisted clown makeup as they terrorize the Kent towns and villages with ever-escalating and more-frequent attacks.

If they were not enough of a nuisance, he has foolishly employed a woman with whom he is utterly in love. Trying to ignore Mr. Wriggly’s thoughts about what to do with his new colleague, he goes after his silver medal, a girl he lusted after years ago at school. But while Mr. Wriggly might not care tuppence about the difference, is Tempest’s heart really in it?

The Klowns should be a case for the police to solve, but their leader appears to have a serious beef with Tempest, and they are coming for him and anyone who gets between them.

Who are the Klowns? What do they want? And what's with the ridiculous smiles?

Throw in a demonic possession, a restaurant with ghostly footsteps, and some more meddling by his mother, and it looks like another entertaining week for Kent’s best paranormal investigator.

loved the story, don't like the narrator.

The stories are great, the narrator kinda sucks. Really dislike when they change narrators. The readerof the first 2 books were funny and put life into the characters. this guy falls flat.

Entertaining

Really love Mr Higgs writing. This is the third one I’ve read and they’ve all been terrific. The only disappointment in this was I figured out the protagonist early on. My favorites are of course Bill and Dozer

Disappointing Narrator

I enjoyed the story...but the narrator's delivery is frustrating. He pauses in the middle...of every single sentence. His voice, accent, and characterizations are fine...but the constant pause in EVERY sentence makes for a very choppy performance. The technique can be used to good effect on an occasional basis...but not all the time. I could not listen to it straight through...as I would get annoyed after a while. My irritation with the narrator's delivery would...overshadow the story.

Reader not good!

I do not like this new reader. His voice is too high, phrasing is all wrong and very disconcerting and he runs his words together so it is difficult to understand him. I will not purchase anymore audible books read by Charles Robert Fox. The book itself is good. I really enjoy the story, just not this reader. The reader of the first two books in the series was great! His voice really painted a picture of the main character. This new reader, not so much! Please consider going back to Peter Fullagar or someone with a similar voice and phrasing.

Great fun

Great story and the narration is spot on, reflecting the characters brilliantly. The tone and pace reflect the story, from highly charged fight scenes to little romantic interludes, though Big Bens inputs may not quite be Mills and Boon!
Great story and all brilliantly quite silly. I mean, an ex-army officer cum private detective who investigates the paranormal - which he has no belief in what so ever - who drives a sport car and has a pair of miniature dachshunds. What could possibly go wrong?
Charles Robert Fox does a great job with the narration, and you will really believe that Tempest is talking to you and you will be seeing the world from his eyes.
I have listened to the other later books as well and heartily recommend them. they get better and better, and best thing of all the narration and plot lines are consistently good.
