Story
It has been 20 years since the end of the war. The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets.

Publisher's Summary
War and madness cast shadows over the lands dragons once ruled.
Geder Palliako's star is rising. He is a hero of Antea, protector to the crown prince, and darling of the court. But storms from his past are gathering, and with them, a war that will change everything.
Cithrin bel Sarcour founded a powerful bank on stolen wealth, forged papers, and ready blades. Now every move she makes is observed, recorded, and controlled. Unless Cithrin can free herself from her gilded cage, the life she made will be for naught; war may provide just the opportunity she needs.
An apostate priest sees the hidden hand behind all: a long-buried secret of the dragon empire threatens everything humanity has built. An age of madness and death approaches, with only a few doomed heroes to stand in its way.
The Dagger and the Coin series includes:

Keeps getting better with every chapter.
I'm on book 4 right now, but wanted to take a minute to come back and pay my respect for these books. So far the journey has been well worth the credits. There are too many subpar books floating out there in audible-verse that when you have a series as good as this one, you have to take full advantage of it being available. Don't miss out!

Could Not Stop Listening...
This is part of a 5-book series that got off to a slow start in book 1, but really takes off in book 2. I am so enjoying the reader's voice and the development of these profoundly interesting, complex characters with their delicious flaws. I bought the rest of the recorded books in this series just to make sure I don't miss a word of the story. Love it.

Beware false idols...
This continues the sprawling saga that has schemes inside of schemes.... probably. Geder, Marcus and Cithrin continue to weave their own tales in amongst court intrigue to court insurrection. Herein we finally have the stage set for a war and it’s easy to say who the villain is but each character has flaws and proud moments that make you forego the rather obvious set up and leaves you asking, how far does this go?

Phenomenal Sequel to an Incredible Fantasy Novel!
I purchased the audio books of this trilogy to enjoy revisiting the series without having to read the paperbacks I own. These novels are fantastic, every page jumping to life with excellent mystery, characters, action, and plot twists at every turn of the next page. I cannot recommend this enough. The narrator perfectly captures the author's intent with feeling and professionalism.
