Publisher's summary

Right after she finishes her BLT, disgraced Major Tanis Richards is off to save the day one more time.

Tanis is looking forward to a long journey in stasis before arriving at the newly terraformed world of New Eden. New Life. New Start. Getting a berth on the Intrepid is her ticket out of the Sol System.

But nothing proves easy for Major Tanis Richards. Nothing is at it seems. What should be a simple trip is fraught with danger and filled with adventure. An array of forces seek to stop the Intrepid - no matter the cost, or lives lost. From competing corporations, to stellar eco-terrorists, no one wants the Intrepid to arrive at New Eden.

Through their journey, the crew of the Intrepid will face rival stellar governments, civil war, and the most wanted serial killer known to the galaxy. Pivoting their role from colonists to saviors.

Perhaps it's because the Intrepid carries the most valuable secret known to humanity. Or maybe it's just Tanis's luck.

Great Epic saga of a tale

This is a fun tale. The main characters are mostly female which gave the story a different texture. The side plot romance worked for me. The combat was exciting and the science was believable-ish. All on all a eat epic tale. I will be continuing with it.

narrator pronounces things wrong

love the story. have read the books. The narrator was decent but sometimes using the wrong voice for a character and pronouncing some things wrong which throw you off when listening.

Excellent story line

Very good story line that will keep you engaged. It ends with a cliff hanger. How do you find the next series

Great narration, solid storyline

good strong characters, solid storytelling. Brought in enough tech speak to sound plausible without getting bogged down in it

Awe inspiring Sace Opera

I have read this series before, but it was great to listen to the performance. I really ad.ire Mallory as a world, or in this case, galaxy builder. I love how the answer to the Fermi Paradox is answered here. It doesn't hurt that we have such great and engaging characters to help answer it.

fun and lighthearted

it's a very magicky scifi, not very scientific at all, but it's a fun and actionpacked listen. I like the strong female MC a lot, all of her chaotic, adrenaline junkie energy is really fun and fresh. she is smart and intelligent, but tends to just feel a pull towards danger, which puts her in a lot of stupid dangerous situations.

I wish it either didn't have the romantic relationship, or it was done better, because it's pretty baseless and icky. the dude is controlling, petulant and patronising towards her and her way of life and at the same time claims to be in love with a woman like her, just like she is? those two things can't both be true. their relationship feels forced and weird, they talk about love when they seem to barely even know each other or have any chemistry. especially weird seems the magnitude of feeling Tanis has towards him, when she seems to pretty much just find his smile/laugh attractive and like his general vibe. she seems to act like she is just responding to an attractive guy who keeps pursuing her, and she doesn't seem to mind or even notice his controlling and patronising tendencies at all, which is not really in line with the rest of her personality imo.

I'm glad it's not a massive part of the story, so it doesn't ruin it altogether for me. relationships like this are just a pet peeve for me, I'm sure most people won't find it bothersome at all. I would definitely recommend this book!

audio narrator is not the best, but passable. she has a pleasant enough voice, but I have difficulty recognizing who is talking and keep mistaking her "male voices" as older feminine coded voices, so I end up thinking some men are women and then finding out they weren't. it's not that big of an issue and I like her different accents etc.

could use a couple significant male characters...

I love strong female characters but this is a bit too much. even Joe is really Tanisha candy. sometimes it's just the story... but every main character is a woman?every time?

Veryy well executed

Starting off i LOVED this series. I absolutely LOVED it! It was so unexpectedly great i was floored at how much i was enjoying it. It was well written, action packed, filled with comprehensive ideas and future sci fi tech, had amazingly lovable characters and a great perfectly paced, progressive storyline. One of the best things about these books in my opinion is all of the characters make rational intellectual decisions and take well thought out action. Alot of sci fi book make their characters act rashly or do dumb things in order to create cheap drama or conflict, but all of the conflict in these books seemed so much more genuine because when something seemed obvious to the reader seconds later the MC would figure it out and act on the information available and fix whatever the problem was. Thats what i mean by the progression in this story was top notch. Instead of constantly being bamboozled by the same villain or problem things got adressed and solved then new problems would naturally arise. Tanis is my new favorite female hero btw (besides commander shepard). Then we get to the 'Orian war' series which is the 4th book in this collection (great value having the whole intrepid trilogy and the first book of the continuation saga included btw, much appreciated) which i started off not liking but when it got into the meat and potatoes of the story i really fell in love with the new characters that were introduced and loved where it took the story. There were a couple minor nonsensical things in this one that i didnt notice in the others, such as 2 people having someone at gun point then another person shoots them and is able to get back to their ship and kidnap a highly capable captain. Werent there just 2 crew members with guns that should've stopped that from happening? Not a glaring issue, it just goes to show you how well put together the rest of the books are that that stood out to me so much because the situations normally dont have inconsistencies like that. I highly recommend embarking on this journey, you wont be disappointed.

Good stories but abrupt cliffhangers.

Characters are interesting with some effort to Make them multidimensional. Stories are readily moving on
But transitions are rarely smooth or unexpected.
