The dramatic autobiography of one of China's dedicated, courageous, and intensely persecuted house church leaders. This is the gripping story of how God took a young, half-starved boy from a poor village in Henan province and placed him on the front line for Jesus, in the face of impossible odds. Instead of focusing on the many miracles or experiences of suffering, however, Yun prefers to focus on the character and beauty of Jesus.

Pastor Tom Doyle has spent 11 years as a full-time missionary in the Middle East and Central Asia, spreading the word of Jesus Christ. Throughout his journey he has encountered a staggering number of Muslims who were first introduced to Jesus through a vision or dream so powerful that they eventually turned from their lifelong religion of Islam and embraced Christ as their Savior. Despite living in a culture where converting to Christianity can result in execution, these former Muslims have found hope, peace, and inspiration that comes from knowing Christ.

Story
As Adolf Hitler and the Nazis seduced a nation, bullied a continent, and attempted to exterminate the Jews of Europe, a small number of dissidents and saboteurs worked to dismantle the Third Reich from the inside. One of these was Dietrich Bonhoeffer. In the first major biography of Bonhoeffer in 40 years, New York Times best-selling author Eric Metaxas takes both strands of Bonhoeffer's life - the theologian and the spy - to tell a searing story of incredible moral courage in the face of monstrous evil.

On account of the superficial points of agreement between Islam and Christianity, many don't see how tremendously deep the divides between them really are, and fewer still have considered the evidence for each faith. How is jihad different from the Crusades? Can we know the life of Jesus as well as the life of Muhammad? What reason is there to believe in one faith over the other, and what difference can the Gospel really make?

On February 29, 1948, Richard Wurmbrand was arrested by the secret police. His crimes? Leading Christian worship and witnessing - both of which were illegal under the atheistic Communist regime of Romania. Richard spent 14 years in prison. He was tortured, beaten, and locked into a solitary confinement cell. Sabina Wurmbrand spent three years in a labor camp, nearly freezing to death as she and other prisoners worked on the Danube Canal. She was repeatedly told her husband had died behind bars. Now, for the first time, both sides of this amazing story are told in one audiobook.

The Journey of Faith is a tale of his spiritual and physical journey and events that he encountered as a renegade priest with some viewpoints and observations of religion and history. Hopefully, the listener will gain some insight into the world of spirituality for the years to come and will be motivated to have a closer connection to God and not to religion as such. There are many questions asked but the answers are up to the listener.

Publisher's summary
The Insanity of God is the personal and lifelong journey of an ordinary couple from rural Kentucky who thought they were going on just your ordinary missionary pilgrimage but discovered it would be anything but. After spending over six hard years doing relief work in Somalia and experiencing life where it looked like God had turned away completely and he was clueless about the tragedies of life, the couple had a crisis of faith and left Africa asking God, "Does the Gospel work anywhere when it is really a hard place?" It sure didn't work in Somalia.
Nik recalls, "God had always been so real to me, to Ruth, and to our boys. But was he enough for the utter weariness of soul I experienced at that time, in that place, under those circumstances?" It is a question that many have asked and one that, if answered, can lead us to a whole new world of faith. How does faith survive, let alone flourish, in a place like the Middle East? How can Ggod truly overcome such evil? How do you maintain hope when all is darkness around you? How can we say "greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world" when it may not be visibly true in that place at that time? How does anyone live an abundant, victorious Christian life in our world's toughest places? Can Christianity even work outside of Western, dressed-up, ordered nations? If so, how?
The Insanity of God tells a story - a remarkable and unique story to be sure, yet at heart a very human story - of the Ripkens' own spiritual and emotional odyssey. The gripping narrative account of a personal pilgrimage into some of the toughest places on Earth, combined with sobering and insightful stories of the remarkable people of faith Nik and Ruth encountered on their journeys, will serve as a powerful course of revelation, growth, and challenge for anyone who wants to know whether God truly is enough.

Wake up Christians
I finished listening to this audiobook today. I may of thought many of the stories exaggerated or even made up. But then I was informed also today an 84yr old Catholic priest was beheaded as he celebrated morning mass as he would not renounce belief in Jesus. I guess I believed the author all along as I listened with the beheading solidifing it's truth. It is difficult to pray for one prosecutors. Even harder to forgive them. However that is what Jesus calls us to do if we are true believers & followers of his. U do not need to read this book to know the persecution of Christians that are happening all over the world today. But what it does inform us Christian's is that persecution has always been a part of our faith. and it's still going on everywhere today'. I highly recommend this book. I went with the author from his initial belief to his growth in true believe in the resurrected Christ and how Jesus Christ will always remain true to us will never be squashed and his love rains truer the more persecuted the culture the more growth and power Jesus love flourishes in his church and its members. the current situation as the world is today Jesus's words ring more true to us westerners. What is in the darkness will be brought into the light.

Beyond my expectations!
I selected this book because it was in sync with how I was feeling at my job in corporate America-a workplace where now the words Christmas and Easter are not acknowledged by the organization. While mild, the 'persecution' towards Christianity is being felt and is becoming more evident in the Western world. This book not only addressed my greatest fears, but it also readjusted my perspective on persecution and my relationship with God overall. Praise God for this book and the work it took to achieve it!

Incredible
This story is simply incredible. It caused me to see God in a similar light in which I had seen Him in Haiti. I cried several times as I was overwhelmed by the love of people and God throughout the book. I am profoundly humbled. I honestly find myself without sufficient words to describe my interaction with God as I listened to this book. Well done.

I learnt so much in this audiobook, it has totally inspired me to learn more, do more, and change, to somehow help those persecuted christians and all those suffering around the world. Deep challenging story with good questions
Well read and Very easy to listen to. Confronting story st the start that sounds alot like most christian stories and then he becomes a missionary and is confronted by really bad/evil stuff and wonders where God is while this is going on. The rest of the book is that journey .... and it is not what I expected. Good? Yes! Challenging? Yes!!! I will not be the same. This is not your usual missionary tale/s. There is some foundational lesson that can be learned, that if implemented will change your life, even your world

Inspiring, Eye Opening, Transformational
The first half of the book is good and the second half is great. If you want spiritual growth, to have your eyes opened to the power of Christ and the impact of Christianity in a refreshing way, if you want your own spiritual transformation I recommend this book.
It talks about people's interactions with God in difficult situations. It opened my eyes to a more powerful love for God and people. It made me want to be closer to God. Interestingly as a Christian hearing the struggles people willingly face in different parts of the world helped temptation in my life to loose its grip and power.
God used this book to speak to me. I think he would do that to anyone who picks it up with an open heart to what God will say to them through it.

Amazing and challenging book
I hope and pray that the examples of believers who live in persecution don't just wash over me. Their measure of faith will be amazing to anyone in the Western church. They are so much more like the early church than we are and they are truly inspirational.

Challenging yet inspiring.
It started out quite discouraging but through the crescendo, it enlarged my view of God.

Story
All Christian disciples have one thing in common: As they carry the Gospel across the ocean and across the street, persecution will become the norm for those who choose to follow Jesus. How believers respond in the face of persecution reveals everything about their level of faith and obedience. The Insanity of Obedience is a bold challenge to global discipleship. Nik Ripken exposes the danger of safe Christianity and calls listeners to something greater.

Story
As a child, Petr Jasek watched Soviet tanks roll through the streets of his village in Czechoslovakia, taking the country by force and subjecting it to decades of Communist oppression. Petr grew up in the underground church and benefited from financial help and Bibles smuggled in to his family. As an adult living in the free Czech Republic, Petr chose to begin serving persecuted Christians. In 2015, he was arrested in Sudan, convicted as a war criminal, and sentenced to life in prison, where he was forced to share a group cell with ISIS terrorists.

Story
The dramatic autobiography of one of China's dedicated, courageous, and intensely persecuted house church leaders. This is the gripping story of how God took a young, half-starved boy from a poor village in Henan province and placed him on the front line for Jesus, in the face of impossible odds. Instead of focusing on the many miracles or experiences of suffering, however, Yun prefers to focus on the character and beauty of Jesus.
