Publisher's summary

No one has been murdered in the Cirque des Immortels since the clash between the otherworldly Courts and the death of Oberos at Lilith’s flaming hands. Vivienne is settling comfortably into her new life under the big top, with its late-night debaucheries, faerie secrets, and magical cast. She is now a fortune-teller, rather than a cotton candy seller, and has a magical boyfriend, Kingston, whose fierce charm has stolen her heart.

But her own half-remembered past holds secrets of its own, and her disturbing visions compel her to accept that she can’t outrun the mysteries of her previous life - even though not being able to remember may well be a blessing in disguise. Especially when the blood is on her hands.

So-So

As with most "middle" books in a trilogy, the story, though consistent with Book 1, tends to sag in this one. The only things new are the death of Kingston (my favorite), the entrance of Oberon, Viv's back story. The really bright spot with this book is the narrator - she is able to create voices for each character which have become recognizable from Book 1. She makes poor Vivienne very real in this world of good, bad, and seriously psycho fairies.

No resolution just problems, so half a book

Story has tones of holes. I enjoy the world that it illuminates but it sucks when a book has no conclusion or even resolution the problems created or show in the story so far. Now I'm hoping he third book will tie at least som of these problems up.

Better than the first. Ready for the 3rd.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Sometimes the visions toward the end becomes hard to follow. I got lost in the last hour but at the conclusion of the book I am back on track. Ready to listen to the 3rd book.

If you’ve listened to books by A. R. Kahler before, how does this one compare?

This book is way better than the first but i think the first book had a lot of background and time to cover to get us to the point in the story where things start to happen.

What about Amy McFadden’s performance did you like?

This one is stronger narration than the first. She did a great job again.

Could you see The Immortal Circus: Act Two being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

yes, I think if done right it could be a great production.

This just gets better! Love it!

The Immortal Circus: Act Two
By: A. R. Kahler
Narrated by: Amy McFadden
Wow, this series just keeps getting better! Read book one first because this book has spoilers for book one. This is wonderful and exciting, lots more suspense and craziness! More deaths, :( A touch of romance, violence, lust, thrills, and great fantasy!
The narrator is a perfect actress and does wonders for this book. It is so much better with the narrator than just me reading it. Wonderful job.

I can't stand this narrator

The story itself is great, but if I have to listen to this narrator's lilts, inflections, and terrible accent much longer, I'm going to scream. I find myself scoffing and backtalking her throughout the reading. The story is keeping me interested, but I'm having a hard time differentiating if I'm irritated by the narrator's way of saying "iron" and "ice" and "scream", or if it actually is used as a discriptor far too many times. But note to future self: don't get any audio books narrated by Amy McFadden.

Full of fantasy and anticipation

After Act One, Act Two shows a somewhat darker perspective with some unexpected events. A somewhat gothic story with Bradburian tones. Narration is quite adequate to the story's general climate. Read it at 1 to 1.25 audio speed, a C1 English level book. Lively and entertaining. I am already halfway theough Act Three.

MEH!!

This part of the story picks up three months after the incidents of Act One. It was very interesting but somewhat predictable. Vivian is finding out her past and things are not as they seem. It was good but not run out to get the next book great for me.

This specific video review will be included in the May 2018 wrap-up.

Better than the first

The first book was a little predictable but this one was way better. It also left you wondering for the next book. The narration was great.

First was good. Act 2 the challenging build.

Struggled with this one, skipped ahead a lot. Felt story was developed well in first but flimsy and cringy in act 2.
