A NEW NOVEL IN THE ICARUS SERIES FROM NEW YORK TIMES BEST-SELLING AUTHOR OF THE ADMIRAL THRAWN STAR WARS NOVELS TIMOTHY ZAHN

For years Gregory Roarke and his Kadolian partner Selene worked as crocketts, combing through the atmospheres of uninhabited worlds for places that might be colonized or hold valuable resources. Now, they quietly work for the Icarus Group, a top-secret government organization hunting for portals created by a long-vanished alien race, portals that can teleport a person hundreds or thousands of light-years in the blink of an eye.

Roarke and Selene are searching one such possibility when they find that someone appears to be stalking them. They evade their pursuers and return to find that a man named Easton Dent has been searching the Spiral’s databases for the names Gregory Roarke and Icarus.

Roarke reluctantly agrees to meet with him. But that first contact is cut short, and hours later Roarke is arrested and accused of Dent’s murder.

More importantly to Roarke’s Icarus Group overseers, that brief meeting also confirms that Dent was in recent contact with a portal.

But the alien Patth are also searching for such portals, and they are also on the trail. It’s now a race . . . and the Patth have resources and ruthlessness far beyond anything Roarke and Selene can match.

More please! Another great journey through the ever expanding Spiral. Well written and acted. The twists and turns keep you listening. I can’t wait for the next journey.

Another Great Story in the Spiral

if you were a fan of the previous two Icarus novels you'll love this one. Marc Thompson is wonderful as always

Even more twists and turns

Thoroughly enjoying the interplay between mobsters, aliens and humans with the Icarus team. Highly complex storyline which keeps my interest and simple storytelling style that makes it easy to listen to.

Clever ending queues up the next story

Great book. Good plot. Classic Zahn. And as usual Marc Thompson’s voices are top notch. But whoever is mixing his audio really needs to balance out the dynamic range and make the recording louder. I’m a father of 5 kids and rarely get to listen to audiobooks in perfect silence. Thompson’s low voices are too soft to be heard properly even on full volume if you have any background noise. And the parts where the characters shout hurt your ears if you have the volume cranked up to hear the soft parts. I had to rewind countless times to catch critical dialog.

Great book, Worth the listen. Narrator too quiet.

It is just my preference, but it did not keep my interest as well as other stories. It was well narrated and the plot was good.

Good story, but not as intriguing as others I listen to

Again, the two crocketts, Gregory Roarke and Selene, find themselves pursued by various entities including Gregory's past mafia ties, the Patth, and another new person somehow tied to the Icarus portals. All throughout they must hide their secret involvement in the Icarus project. These colliding forces nearly have Gregory and Selene framed for murder. In the end, Gregory and Selene must uncover the various motivations and outwit their adversaries.

More excellent intrigue surrounding Icarus

The ridiculous, over the top voices & accents drive me crazy. Especially when they are entirely inappropriate to a character.

Silly voices

I really enjoyed Selene a lot more in this volume. Her character growth became more fun and a little bit snarky.

Selene

Some quiet bit you will need a quiet place to hear,or a volume adjustment.

Fun but big shifts in volume
