While the story was good, not great like an Asimov but definitely intriguing, the “virtual voice” was so bad I considered just quitting and moving on. I suppose it says a lot about how good the story was that I was able to stomach the near monotone narration and power through to the end. The narration was totally inappropriate in some cases, neglecting proper emphasis in any way, and kept mispronouncing words. I’ve never experienced the word “peridot” so completely mangled!
