a very good synopsis of the accident and various

I very much enjoyed listening to this book because it provided a very thorough analysis of the various scenarios and theories. Most shocking to me was the belligerence of the Australian investigation agency... something I knew nothing about until I listened to this book.

Comprehensive overview of an engrossing mystery

I’ll always remember when MH370 disappeared because I had a flight scheduled for the same day. One of those events I clearly recall where I was when I learned about it. Written by a prominent journalist that was and still is on the front lines of this story, you couldn’t ask for a better perspective. I’d seen a few documentaries and TV specials before this but nothing compares to the level of detail put forth in this book. All the mainstream theories (and a couple I hadn’t heard) are outlined while the facts of every major investigation are explained in terms layman can understand. Going in I tended to agree with the rogue pilot theory and that it was a murder suicide, by the conclusion I am as certain as I can be that this was the case. No theory is completely satisfactory without discovering the remains of the aircraft, but it’s the theory that requires the fewest assumptions and/or leaps in logic.

As disheartening as the search has been, I’m confident the plane will someday be found and closure will come to the families of the victims.

Fascinating story, superbly written.

Excellent work. The disappearance is only part of the bizarre story. The startling behavior of the ATSB and Malaysian investigation is the other part. Makes me earnestly wish someone would mount the searched based on the piloted ditching theory. So much evidence that the pilot planned and pulled it off (ignored by the ATSB)...

Very boring. Way too long.

It doesn’t take that long to say we don’t know where it is. Thought there might be a little more insight other than what has already been shared, but no. They simply don’t know where it is of definitely what happened. And after hearing enough of books read out loud I can safely say I am rather tired of readers trying to “act out” out the lines and men trying to sound like women and vice versa. Just read it please. I can tell for myself where voice inflection would be. And, one more thing, after enough books I’m quite tired of British accents.

Thin material on the alleged hijacking.

The book is well written, yet the focus of "The Hunt for MH370" is on political jockeying and buck-passing by the Australian air safety board. If the book focused as much energy on motives of the pilot as it did on nuances of an Australian crash report, it may have been a good read. Unfortunately the book focused on every "no comment" given by Australian political figures and this wasn't what we came here for. The books alleged cause of the tragedy put the blame squarely on the pilot; yet information in the book about the pilot was delegated to a few sentences.. Granted, information may have been difficult to get about the pilot but this is the reason why we came here and purchased the book. We didn't purchase a book to listen to political conjecturing, press rights and question dodging.. Perhaps this topic is just too difficult to write a book about because scant information is available?
