Publisher's summary

A fresh and funny romantic mystery series about a witty, down-to-earth heroine with a job you've never seen before....

Isobel Avery is on her second assignment as an undercover poison taster for Los Angeles's rich and famous. And she's actually enjoying herself. Until her sweet, agoraphobic client mysteriously leaves the safety of his apartment and winds up dead.

When crucial evidence goes missing, investigator Connor Stiles will need Izzy's inside knowledge to help track down the killer. But despite three months of absence to make Connor's heart grow fonder, he doesn't seem pleased to be working with her again. The LAPD commander is even less pleased to have Izzy on the case since he considers her a suspect and, even worse, a mere civilian. To top it all off, her least favorite relative in the whole wide world drops by for an unexpected visit.

Meanwhile, the killer is destroying anything that might link back to them. Including Izzy if she's not careful.

In this fun-packed romantic sequel to Eat, Pray, Die, join Izzy as she learns where she stands with the enigmatic Connor and tries to put another bad guy behind bars.

Much clearer than the first novel

Now that I listened to Eat, Pray and Die, I was fully on board with the concept of poisoning, although I would like more explanation of the Shades??, maybe in a later installment? The performance was great and the voice an dialogue well done. I really like the characters but perhaps Connor is falling a bit too fast. It’s only the second book😀

Better than the First!

I am surprised to say I liked this book even more than her first! It had all of the fun without as much unnecessary sexual innuendo. I liked the romance development between Connor and and Isobel. If you liked the first, you must read this one! If you haven't read the first, I think you'd be fine to just jump right into this one.

The cover is misleading

This is a good listen and its funny which I love! But Izzy is not the kick butt person that is betrayed on the cover of this listen... she doesnt even know how to shoot a gun. I wish she was more kick butt but the story is still good. I love the supporting characters they add so much to the story

I enjoyed it! This character is really interesting. Kind. Clever. Stubborn. Funny. With a good backstory.

Love the characters

I love how the characters are developing and looking forward to book 3. I also am very impressed by the narrator. She’s very talented and a narrator can make or break a book for me. I read in a review that the narrator was different in this book but they are mistaken. Saskia Masrleveld has done all of Chelsea’s books and is great.

This series is fun light and witty.

Izzy is food taster for clients. She tastes good and drink for poisons. Her current client just up and walked out and got himself killed. Izzy is now a suspect too. She tries to solve the crime and someone tries killing her. Her and Connor are at least working together again!
This is a great book to relax, feel good, giggle occasionally, and live vicariously through Izzy's romance!

An exciting followup

It's a romantic comedy that is hilarious and intriguing. This is the second job for Izzy. It is 9 days before Christmas. 3 months has passed since she started her job and Izzy enjoys her work and is paying her debts. She enjoys curling up with Meow her roommate’s cat. I love the antics between Dudley (dog) and Meow (cat)

Her Aunt Alice and her daughter, Henrietta, least favorite cousin, arrive for a visit. Oliver, her roommate, develops an unexpected love interest in Henrietta. Her neighbor, Etta, a sex pot of an older lady, continues to make me laugh every time she’s on the page.

Her tasting job is with Earnest Dunst. He hardly ever leaves his apartment and runs a website, Busileaks, which exposes the misconduct and coverup of companies. Her biggest complaint is she has problems fitting into her clothes because she samples Earnest’s junk food.

Posing as his girlfriend she is the first suspect in his murder, but she's also going to do everything she can to figure out who killed him and why. LAPD Commander Hunt threatens Izzy with jail time if she doesn't stay out of the case. There were surprises in the twists and turns in this story. The ending was a BIG surprise and totally unexpected!

Getting better

Getting better. This isn't high lit, or even middle, we've got a solid middling but it's a definite improvement over the first book. Still sticking with it into book 3 since I thoroughly enjoy the author's writing under her pen name.
