Story
The white-washed Italian villa is perfect. I thought it might feel odd, living in a stranger’s house for the summer, but as my husband and children swim in the infinity pool, I start to relax. And then, in the back of a wardrobe, I find something that shatters everything.... Sparkling green eyes, square jaw, lopsided smile. A young man with his arm around a beautiful woman. The picture is old and faded, but I’d recognize him anywhere. The man is my husband.

I heard Emily before I saw her. The harsh smack of heels against cheap wooden floorboards. The loud phone calls. The incessant music. I knew Emily before I met her. Discarded receipts in our communal hallway. Sticky leftovers in the shared food waste bin. Wine shop vouchers in the letterbox. Now she’s gone missing, and I’m the only one who can find her. The only one who can save her. Because I know her best, and I heard everything.

Paranormal 1950's Story
The House of Secrets by Terry Lynn Thomas is listed as Book 2, but I found it to be a great standalone listen. The author wrote vivid imagery for the time period and had great details. The premise of the book is original. Daniela Acitelli was incredible bringing the characters to life in her performance. I could hear who was speaking. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntary written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator,

The house of secrets
The second Sarah Bennett mystery has Sarah getting a job in an asylum typing up papers.Of course she needs to help a lady there,as well as a ghost.I liked this one,but not as much as the first. Daniela Acitelli was a fine narrator. I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

The House of Secrets
After Sarah's tragic past she pretty much has no place to go. Her boyfriend is under the care of Dr. Geisler and he convinces him to take her in. The Dr. is aware she sees ghosts and is very interested in more information on this. But Sarah is not certain who to trust. And this house is holding lots of secrets that will slowly unwind. The narration is nice.

For some reason, the story didn't work for me...
I liked the bravura of Daniela Acitelli's performance in this period story set in WWII San Francisco. She did a great job, but I never felt any genuine surprise or eerieness from the story. Maybe some ominous music would have helped! The main character was hard to get a handle on, or care about.

1950 Paranormal Mystery
I really enjoyed this 1950 paranormal mystery. The story is cleverly written, the characters interesting. The writer definitely did her homework on the era. the narrator did a great job portraying a woman alone trying to find work as a secretary. She moved in and out of characters easily bringing the story to life with al the appropriate emotions. I didn’t realize this was second in the series but it easily reads as a stand-alone. I will definitely go back to book 1 while I await book 3

I really enjoyed this book. I did not read the first in the series, but this book stands on its own. I will definitely go back and listen to the first book, as well as anymore in the series. I thought I had it figured out but I was very wrong! The characters were likable and story was engaging. I enjoyed the narrator’s performance.
