When an acclaimed novelist purchases the summer estate of her youth on Orcas Island, Washington, she voices three intentions: to provide a respite for her hardworking husband; to preserve the innocence of their precocious thirteen-year-old son; and to renovate a cliffside cabin into the writing retreat of her dreams. But there’s also an unfulfilled promise that has haunted Meredith Lila Gaines since the day she fled the property and the life she knew.

Her latest bestselling psychological thriller shares its title with the remote manor house, and not for the reasons most think. Frightening rumors have long swirled throughout the San Juan Islands regarding the property, and according to locals, those tales aren’t to be taken lightly. Meredith knows this firsthand; it’s the reason she’s returned for what lies beneath the emerald waves of Rosario Strait . . .

I thoroughly enjoyed this! It’s part ghost story, part thriller, and part coming of age, with plenty of twists to keep you intrigued. The narrator does a fabulous job with the characters, and the writer takes us on a wonderful ghostly adventure from the perspective of a best selling author of psychological thrillers. I was lost in this story, and loved it so much that I didn’t want it to end. I especially love how the writer shifts us between Meredith's quest, and the parallel mystery that her son Edward, and his gal-pal Vivian, are trying to solve before the end of summer. Very well written with just enough creepiness, adventure, and twists! Can’t wait to listen to this one again my next long drive!

Great imagery! I need to visit Orcas Island!
