Publisher's summary

Sadie, Fin, and their two children were a perfectly ordinary family. Even if Fin felt taken for granted sometimes. Even if their introverted son, Liam, had terrible nightmares and knew things he shouldn’t.

But everything changes the night Sadie is viciously assaulted by former client Lance Sherry. Sherry knows where they live, and when the police fail to catch him, Sadie and Fin are forced to run. They think they’ve found the perfect place to start over. The house is everything Fin dreamed of, but as they settle in, Sadie discovers their home may not be what it seems, and daughter Lucy’s imaginary friend might not be imaginary at all. Or even a friend. With Lance Sherry hunting them, the house could be the least of their problems. He’s coming to finish what he started, and he won’t stop until he finds Sadie.

Modernized Shining

I feel like this was an attempt to modernize The Shining while also making it really British. It was far less creepy than The Shining and alot shorter but I'd say it's just as torturous as far as the tension goes. It was a great story but the parallels with The Shining made me fear that the author would try to recreate the ending as well. it made all the tension very stressful for someone who was given nightmares by Mr King.

I’m speechless!

This is definitely one of the best lesfic books I’ve listened to in a long time! *SPOILER* I’ll be honest I was waiting for the ole “Here’s Johnnie” speech. This book had me at chapter 1. I couldn’t put it down! You will not be disappointed...definitely worth the credit.

Excellent horror

I loved this audiobook. The story kept me riveted even with the slightly odd narration.

The narrator sounds a little like an Australian trying for a British accent and the character voices are not consistent throughout. But the writing and the story is so good that I didn’t even mind the odd narration so much.

If you loved House On Haunted Hill or The Shining then this is a must-listen.

I am for sure going to see what else Darry has done because I am now a huge fan.

My suggestion is to listen to a sample and if you can live with that narration then absolutely get the audiobook. Otherwise buy the book because you don’t want to miss this one
