Intriguing and Disturbing – Mature Content

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

*I received this book as a gift in exchange for posting my unbiased review.

I appreciated the mystery and suspense but thought that there was WAY too much sexual content.

Would you recommend The Handyman : Season I to your friends? Why or why not?

If I had friends that enjoyed this genre, I'm still on the fence on whether I would recommend this book.

Which character – as performed by Connor Brown – was your favorite?

Connor Brown performed the title character(Author Victor) very well.

Could you see The Handyman : Season I being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Absolutely not, unless on cable or pay-per-view series. I have no idea who I would cast because I am not up on actors/actresses.

Any additional comments?

Notes: Mature themes, some violence and some strong language

Great Book

This book was very good. Victor, a writer, who kept receiving rejection letters, and murderer, could have used some therapy. S&x was payment for murdering women’s husbands even though he was married. The book has graphic s&x. This book kept me listening to the end. Connor Brown did a great job with the narration. I was given this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

careful what you wish for.

I didn't know whether to laugh, cry, or get therapy! OMG! Victor was a pawn with tunnel vision lead by a group of sociopathic vigilante females. They rationalized their greed and lunacy away. This was a depraved circus act that I kept listening to until the very end. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this story and am giving an honest review. The narrator's voices, expressions, and accents flowed nicely and added to my enjoyment of this story.

Murder For Sex

Warning - if you're offended by graphic sex, this story is not for you. Victor, a rejected writer, will murder husbands for the payment of sex from their widows. I was gifted this audio book from the author.

Not for children

This is a fantastic erotic mystery that is not for the prudish and children. It's got heart and the main character is totally relatable as he gets sucked in to a job he never knew he needed

Rejection letters led to this

These are three noir stories. He trying to be a writer, has garage walls posted with the rejection letters. His neighbor has a request, in doing, he becomes known as the handyman. Set of three, unique stories that shows his diverse abilities as a writer. Then Victor is in over his head, and how to get out. Different, and with noir plot there are plenty of twists. The narration by Connor Brown was good and brought the story to life.

Empty Calories for the Soul

Wow. This is some dark material. It is sexy, but it is EVIL. It really tests the values of the reader. Are you turned on? If so, why? While it is sexual, it is dark.
This book is like a combination of Penthouse Letters and Pulp Fiction of the past.
Very well written and read. Connor Brown does a great job as he usually does even under other names.
The book is entertaining, but you may not feel good about yourself when you finish.

Well!!! That was fun!!!

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review

This was a great listen, with some additional drama involved. I really wasn't expecting where he got his stories from, and it was a great twist at the end ( I really don't want to give much away).

But Victor needed something to get his writing flowing.. and he found it.

The mixture of murder and sex, (and steamy sex).. made for an interesting listen.

Connor Brown did an excellent job of narration.

Great Book! Awesome Narrator!

I really enjoyed this book! It keeps you guessing at every turn! Connor Brown did a really good job with the voices, although there were a few points where i wasn't sure if it was Stella talking or Vic.
I was given a credit to review this audiobook. A definite must listen!

Phenomenal

The first season of the Handyman is a perfect balance of passion, intensity, crime, and suspense. The premises for the storyline is pretty intriguing. The characters are well-developed, engaging, and far from perfect, particularly Vic, an inspiring but rejected author. When the opportunity arises, Vic decides to take an unconventional but chilling approach to write his mystery thrillers. The composed material is based on his own experiences, it's quite shocking when factoring what those experiences are.

Outstanding narration by Connor Brown. He hones on the characters, capturing the personalities and emotions, bringing the entirety of the book to life. Overall this was a brilliantly written story with dark and steamy elements, and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Better than I initially thought

Handyman series 1.
20 minutes in and my initial thoughts were I'm not going to finish this.
But Andrew.B Wehrien is a superb narrator whose light jockular style always makes easy listening.
By about the 1 hour stage I was hooked.

The Handyman : season 1

Loved listening to the audiobook, the story was well written and the characters were interesting. Stella and Victor are a couple living together, Victor is a writer that does not seem to write a book yet. The twists and turns, hot and steamy, lust/passion, and a lot of emotions. The book was a quick read but worth it.
The narrator was clearly spoken and easy to understand.

Intriguing serial!

How do you inspire a rejected author? Vincent Zandri has a series of 3 stories that let's us know just that! Vic has had some difficulty writing lately. As a mystery writer, he needs some inspiration. And Zandri provides us with a tale of intrigue, steam filled scenes and cold blooded murder with a twist you will not see coming. I was intrigued from the start, wanting to like some of the characters, but finding myself more curious to see what was going to happen. It's twisted and hot and completely surprising. It's one of those books you just have to finish. Loved it!

Connor Brown does an amazing job with the narration of this book. It has a variety of characters, and he pulls each one out and makes them come alive, especially with Vic. Talk about finding the perfect voice, he nails him with both confidence and surprise. He is very entertaining.

Just the right mix of crime and passion!

Thank you to Connor Brown for providing me with a free audiobook in return for an honest review.

The Handyman is a perfect mix of crime and passion, split into a mini-series. The voice of the story, Vic, is an author who is starting to get sick of the rejection letters that he keeps getting every time he submits a story. The only feedback he ever receives is that he needs to get some experience in the fields he writes in so that he can talk with a little more knowledge…the only issue is, Vic is a murder mystery writer. But the perfect opportunities for experience begin to arise and Vic can’t resist the temptation to seize them.

I’ve never read a story like this, The story of an author writing a story about his experience is quite chilling when considering what it is he is writing about.

Not one of the characters in this book was perfect. Each one had their own flaws that made them very real and for each one, I would question their reliability or motives.

The twist in the final story was fantastic and I did not see it coming, I would be very interested in reading the next season of this to find out what happens next.

Connor Brown, the narrator was absolutely fantastic! His voice had a real edge to it, especially when discussing steamy or detailed topics that just kept me hooked. He really delved into the story and made it seem really real.

Some parts did seem a little unrealistic to me, I think the police were mentioned once or twice in this season but there didn’t actually seem to be any investigations or questions when people were murdered and an author released some very similar stories, perhaps the next season will focus on Vic’s alibis and how he copes when things start to point towards him.

OVERALL RATING
A really chilling and interesting listen
